You lay in your bed, tossing and turning within each passing minute. You just couldn't go to sleep, no matter how much you tried. You turned to your alarm clock which displayed the time in bright numbers. "Eleven Fifty-Two" you mumbled to yourself. Finally realizing that trying to get some sleep would result in no avail. Yawning, you slumped over to the side of the twin-sized bed and ended up falling with a thump onto the ground. "Shit!" Perhaps you shouldn't have done that. Getting off of the cold ground, you stood up and made your way out of the room. "We really need to get some heaters in here. I'm freezing.."
Glancing down the stairs, you noticed that your parents haven't gone to sleep yet. Your theory was confirmed as you heard the faint sound of the TV playing along with short laughs - from your parents, of course. And the occasional flickering of the screen bouncing off and onto the walls, creating a colorful glow.
You knew pretty darn well that your parents wouldn't allow you to go out this late at night. After thinking for a bit, you came up with a fool-proof plan. Turning your head back over to your room, you headed back inside and stared at your blankets for a bit. Shortly after, you noticed one of your old and usually neglected of attention large stuffed animals askewed to the side. "Perfect!" You exclaimed to yourself silently as you propped the toy up to your bed and under the covers. You slid your fluffy white pillow under the toy's furry head, and adjusted it a bit so that it would look as if it was you lying beneath.
After adjusting it a bit more, and moving the toy's limbs so that it would appear somewhat human, satisfied, you smiled at your handy work and walked over to your closet, randomly grabbing a jacket and slumping it over your shoulders, you preceded downstairs silently.
Hoping to just creep past them without them noticing, you took baby steps the whole way down. Glancing over the side of the staircase, you noticed that they were completely fixated on the TV as if it was hypnotizing them into some kind of trance. Rolling your eyes at their obliviousness, it was pretty clear that your plan would work out perfectly. You made your way to the door, for real this time, and grabbed the knob. Looking back over to your parents for any sign of realization, you managed to somehow unlock and quickly go out of the door unnoticed. Closing the door behind you, you let out a long sigh of relief, and wiped your brow. You looked at the night before you and smiled. You then began to stroll down the street.
After about fifteen minutes of walking around, you decided to drop by the neighborhood's park and hang there for a while before heading back home and hopefully calling it a night. As you approached the said park, you hopped over the closed gates and made your way over to the swing set. There was always something about swings that you've always seen as most enticing, so obviously, without a doubt, it was your first pick.
After a whole half-hour of swinging, you decided that you'd had enough fun for one night, and hopped off of the swing half-way into the air, and of course, falling right onto your face. You were really clumsy. It was something that you often tried to hide, but without any avail. You just really couldn't help it, no matter what you did. You've tried your best to improve and overcome your clumsiness, but it never worked out in the end, so you just decided to deal with it. It really was what made you unique, after all.
Suddenly, you heard the sound of a twig snap. You head snapped around to the exact location from which you've heard the alleged sound, and a large amount of uneasiness quickly came upon you. You often claimed yourself as fearless and outgoing around your friends, but it was always nothing more than a simple joke. Or so you thought. You were pretty brave after all. You've come face to face with terrifying things before. Such as spiders. Oh how you despised those creepy eight-legged creatures. They'd send the whole school screeching, and you'd always be the one to smash it.. with your bare hands. You enjoyed chasing your friends and classmates around with the dead spider on your hand. You smiled as you remembered that day.
Snapping back into the reality of the situation, your eyes fixated on an alluring shadow which may have alarmed the sound. Raising your fists in the air, intending on protecting yourself at all costs, your bravery shined throughout the whole scene. Heck, a couple of those jokes you told were true after all, and you didn't even know it. "Hey, I don't know who's out there... but whoever you are, back away now!" You spoke abruptly to the unknown. You couldn't believe that you managed to muster up a sentence like that without stuttering to your possible potential demise.
The shadow preceded to step closer to you.
Taking a step backwards yourself, you decided to high-tail it home. This guy was getting waaayy too close for comfort. As your back turned, indicating that you were about to run, the figure grabbed your arm forcibly. Letting out a yelp, you attempted to snatch your arm back from the fiend. Of course, you weren't as strong as he was, so you just ended up flailing your arms around. Unexpectedly, the figure let you go, which caused you to fall to the ground yet again. Jeez, you were really sick of falling on the ground tonight. You looked up at the figure before you and froze in fear as his facial features came into full view.
He had a freshly carved smile into his face. His eyes had black circles around them and were unusually wide for the average human. They seemed to be.. unblinkable somehow? And he was clutching a reddened knife, liquid seeping off of it, as you realized that the liquid was nothing other than blood, you scooted backwards, away from him. The worst of it all was... he was staring right at you! "Oh shit.. oh shit... this can't be happening.. this can't be happening.." The figure rose his knife in the air, and you closed your eyes tight at the approaching doom that was awaiting your arrival.
"GO TO SLEEP." The man spoke, his voice booming, and somewhat maniacal.
