One object keeps my soul alive.

One object tells me not to die.

A knock came from my door, dragging me to the reality, out of the dream world.

"Red! The bus'll be here in ten minutes!" A male voice yelled from the other side of the door. It was Green, who seemed to have overslept and was frantic to get to school. I slipped out of bed, getting dressed quickly before exiting the guest room. Green had disappeared, clearly in a rush. I grabbed my backpack, stumbling around the hall, still sleepy.

"Green?" I asked, being quiet, not remembering where I truly was. I remember now. I was at Green's house, away from my father, who kicked me out of his house. I crept down the hall to the stairwell, making sure I wouldn't wake anyone.

"What are you doing?" I jumped at Green's voice, startled. He stood at the end of the hall, brushing his teeth, clearly not caring about how out of place his hair was. I wanted to walk over and fix it but resisted.

"I was trying to be quiet." I answered feeling foolish. Green sighed, being patient with me.

"I'll tell you again," He said softly. "No one else lives here, relax" With that said, Green continued to rush around the house, clearly missing something. I made my way downstairs, finding breakfast waiting for me in the kitchen. Green's black lab puppy named Eevee, lay resting at my feet while I ate my eggs and toast. Well, more like snacked on it. I placed my dishes in the sink, noticing that Green hadn't eaten.

Time passed and Green was still frantically searching for something. He started mumbling to himself about where he last had the object. I was worried he was gonna lose it.

"Green," I said the next time he walked into the kitchen.

"Yeah?" He responded, worry threaded throughout his voice.

"What are you looking for?"

"Nothing, I don't really need it."

"You apparently do since you've been searching for it."

He stopped searching, running a hand through his now brushed and spiked hair. "Just forget about it." He responded, grabbing his backpack, slipping on his shoes. "One more thing." Green said, finally seeming to have calmed down.

"Yeah?"

"I wont be home 'till 7:30-8ish so I'm was wondering if you could feed Eevee?"

I'm gonna be home alone?

"Sure Green, I can handle that." A nervous feeling grew at the bottom of my stomach.

"You don't look ok, are you sure you wanna go to school?"

I didn't look Green in the eyes, looking at the door behind him. "Yeah, I'm fine."

"Your a shitty liar." Green spat out, sounding angry. I flinched at the tone of his voice, looking into his eyes. They showed mixed emotions before turning away from me. "Whatever." Green snapped, grabbing his backpack as he exited the house, slamming the front door shut.

What was he thinking? I asked myself before hurrying to catch the bus. I slipped out the front door, locking it. I felt a cool fall breeze hit my face, causing goosebumps to form. I wraped my arms around myself as I made my way to the end of the gravel driveway, where the green-eyed Thunderstorm stood, leaning against an Oak tree. I placed myself parallel to him, keeping my distance. I could see him out of the corner of my eye, his hands resting in his pockets, his eyes facing forward along with the rest of him. I was tempted to start a conversation but I noticed the yellow and black bus pulling along the dirt road. Green pushed himself off of the tree, joining me at the end of the drive, waiting for the turtle-speed bus. It slowed, as if going slower is even possible, to a stop, creaking the whole way. The doors opened, clearly needing oil, revealing a lady in her early twenties, who was smiling at Green.

"Morning Green, who's your friend?" She asked, clearly have some kind of bond with Green.

"Morning Jean," Green responded, sounding bored. "This is Red, he's gonna be staying with me for awhile." He responded, climbing up the stairs in one swift motion. I followed, smiling at the bus driver.

"Nice to meet you Red." She said with a smile, waiting for me to take a seat. Green had already taken his seat near the back by Gold, who was talking a mile a minute. I took the nearest open seat to them, sitting across from Gold.

"Red, you'll never believe what happened last night!" Gold practically yelled at me, leaving Green alone, who seemed to have become extremely dark and moody. "So, I went to a party last night and a fight broke out between-"

I started to zone out, trying to focus but I just couldn't. I looked over to Green, noticing he was looking out the window, lost in his own thoughts.

"-say to him?" Gold asked suddenly, drawing me out of my thoughts.

"What?"

"What did you say to him? He seems extremely pissed. Even more than usually." The look on Gold's face told me that he was being serous for the first time since I've met him.

I sighed. "I don't know, he was looking for something this morning but he wouldn't tell me."

"Oh." Was all Gold said before silence filled out section of the bus. Gold snapped his fingers, suddenly remembering something. "Is he wearing his necklace?"

"What necklace?"

"Problem solved."

"A necklace is what's getting to him?"

"It's a long story, I'll have to tell you about it sometime. Now, if you'll excuse me, SILVER!!!" Gold yelled at the red-haired male who just climbed onto the bus. Sliver pulled his hood over the top of his eyes, trying to ignore Gold. "Don't make me yell again Silver." Gold half yelled as Silver made his way over to us. Gold grabbed Silvers arm, pulling the other male onto his lap. I couldn't help but laugh at Silver's red face as he squirmed off of Gold's lap.

Once we had reached school, Green kept his distance from me, choosing to leave school grounds, heading to the woods. I decided it was best not to follow him, heading to my locker. I found Chris leaning against my neighbors locker, trying to keep awake.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, putting in my combination.

"I came to check on you 'cause Green wouldn't allow me to set one foot in the hospital." Chris responded, sounding annoyed with having to wait.

"I'll have to talk to him about that." I responded, grabbing any books that I needed for English.

"Nah," Chris responded, slinging his arm behind my neck, leaning on me. "It's nothin' to big." Chris yawned, putting more weight on my shoulder.

"Can we get to the classroom before you fall asleep on me?" I asked, nudging Chris off.

"No." He whined stubbornly, refusing to me. "I'm sweepy." He stated like a two year old.

"Pwease?" I countered with another childish voice.

"Don't make meeeeeee. I sweepyyyyyy." Chris started to sound even more childish, making his voice higher pitched.

"Chrisssssss."

"No."

"But I wanna go to class."

"Nooooo, I don't want you to go, your comfy."

I couldn't help but laugh. "Your such a kid."

"Yeah yeah, everyone already knows that. So, what are you doing tonight Mr. Mature?" Chris asked, placing his face in the crook of my neck, his warm breath tickling my skin.

"Why does it matter?" I asked, feeling butterflies form in my stomach.

"'Cause I wanna take your mature self out on a date, I'll pick you up at 6." Chris climbed off of me, heading to his next class with a bright smile on his face.

I'm going on a date?!
