Emma's POV

Emma Swan stood idly in front of her kitchen window, watching the fresh snow spiral lazily towards the ground. She set down the mug she was drying, and turned around to face her parents.

"Are you sure you don't want us to drive you?" David asked in a concerned-father kind of way. They'd all planned to go to Granny's for '1st of December' drinks. For the first time in weeks, the entire family was going to be together.

"I mean, you could easily slip, or..." Mary-Margaret agreed.

"I'll be fine, you guys," Emma cut them off with a reproachful smile. "Besides, Killian and Henry are due back from the docks soon, and it'll do me good to get out and walk." David walked over and pressed a kiss to his daughter's forehead, and Mary-Margaret followed with a hug.
"Bye, honey." She whispered, and then they let them selves out. Emma faced the window again, and she heard the door re-open behind her.

"Are you really sure-"

"Goodbye Dad!"

Emma chuckled as she watched her parents walk down the path and out her gate. Over the past few weeks they'd been so overly protective of her, and Emma still wasn't accustomed to the attention.
She picked up the mug she'd been drying and turned it over in her hands; it was a gorgeously painted scene with swans on a crystal-blue lake and a mountainous background. It had been a wedding present from her parents, and Killian had a matching one painted with a ship on a horizon as the sun set behind it.
Emma rolled down the sleeves of the woollen Christmas jumper her mother had begged her to wear. She had resisted at first, insisting that she wasn't a 'Christmas jumper' kind of person, but she had to admit it was comfortable. At least it's soft, Emma thought, and loose too. Perfect for...

Her hand went to her swollen stomach, firm beneath the wool of her jumper. She'd barely even started to show. Barely pregnant, she'd joked with Killian, and he'd laughed and pressed a kiss to the top of her head before he and Henry left to go sailing that morning. She was happy that he and Henry were spending so much time together, and enjoying each other's company. Henry understood that there might not be much time for that when the baby came, but above all he was excited to have a new addition to the family. So were her parents. So was Killian. So was she.

Emma smiled to herself and put the mug back in the cupboard. Then a flicker of movement caught her eye, just a splash of colour in the reflection of her window. Emma stiffened as the reflection of a face melted into clarity. Impossible.

"A little birdy told me," the woman's voice was ice cold, full of bitter irony. "That a certain swan was going to lay an egg. I didn't believe it, but here you are, a bun fresh in the oven."
Emma snapped around to face the witch, one arm protectively covering her stomach.

"You," she hissed. Zelena grinned at her response.

"Me!"

"What the hell are you doing here? Regina said she'd sent you back to Oz."

Zelena smiled wickedly and sauntered forwards. Emma backed away cautiously, matching Zelena step for step. Her hand itched to reach for her magic, to take herself to safety, but the memory of the last time she'd attempted to use her powers still ached in her memories. Instead, Emma reached behind her and curled her fingers around a bread knife.

"Oh, Emma. You of all people should know you can't keep a good witch down."

Zelena gave a casual flick of her wrist, and Emma's vision went dark and she tumbled to her kitchen floor. One thought drifted through her mind as she gripped to consciousness by her finger nails. Crap.
