Bernyce's POV"Happy Birthday, Bernyce!"
"Happy Birthday, sis!"
Tears rolled down my cheeks, "You guys still remember my birthday?"
"Of course we do! We're a family! No one is going to be left behind," My mum said, making me cry even harder than I was before. Then, dad came out from the kitchen, holding a beautifully decorated cake in his hand, "You may have your wishes now."
I wish this moment could last forever.
The moment I opened my eyes again, everything is gone. My mum, my dad, my twin sister. What appeared in front of me was the scene of the tragic accident, crimson red blood splattered everywhere, mum and dad were lying on the ground, covered in the warm, metallic smelling blood, lifeless.
I tried to search for my twin sister, but no tracks of her could be seen. I yelled her name as loud as I can, my voice echoed in the hallways, as if mocking me and my uselessness. When I finally saw her crouched in the corner of our bedroom, my vision faded to black, everything is dark, I couldn't see where I am. I am lost, so lost.

Golden sunlight brim through the curtains, it is warm. Lazily, I open my eyes, only to be greeted by the same ceiling I wake up to everyday.Damn, I've dreamt of the last birthday I had with my biological parents again. Twice.
I glance at the calendar on my wall, 21st of May, my birthday. "Good morning and happy birthday to me." I said sarcastically, followed by a long sigh before I slowly got up to get ready for my birthday. Callie, my neighbour, and my only friend in Canada since the day I moved here from England, promised she will be celebrating my birthday with me.
I got up from the bed then went for a short and refreshing shower. I lost myself singing in the shower and forgot that Callie is still waiting downstairs for me.
Coming out from the bathroom, Callie stood at the doorframe with a pair of folded arms. "What took you so long, birthday girl?" I shook my head slightly,"Woke up late."
"And anyways, happy birthday!" Callie pulled me towards her and gave me a massive bear hug which took me by surprise. I hugged her back, "Thank you for spending the day with me." With that short reply, I thought of the dream this morning again. Hot tears started rolling down my cheeks,"I haven't celebrate my birthday in a while now.. Thank you so much." I hugged her even tighter.
"You are c-choking me Bernyce." I quickly released Callie from the hug and mumbled a sorry to her. " Anyways I'd do anything for my best friend! Now you can open your present," Callie reached into the bag and handed me a well-wrapped box.
Without hesitation, I took the box and start unwrapping it. Inside the box was a small card with my name written on it, and a poster. I took out the poster to have a closer look. I can't believe what I got for my 16th birthday, it's a poster I've been wanting for since I became a directioner. Yes. A One Direction poster with their autographs and birthday wishes on it.
I blinked in total shock, slapped myself twice to make sure I'm not dreaming. "Thank you so much Callie! How did you get it?" Once again, I hugged her tight. "I have my ways," she laughed, "Now go get dressed, we are going out today."
I nodded, walking towards the closet. I threw on a sleeveless crop top and a pair of ripped jeans, taking a red-checkered flannel to tie it around my waist. I grabbed my purse and phone then walked out my room with Callie by my side.

The rest of my birthday was amazing, Callie brought me to a bookstore and a few boutiques. At the end of the day, she bought me a tiny rainbow cake and we had a blast eating, listening to music and dancing like maniacs in my room.To be honest, this was my best birthday so far after the accident. It feels good to have someone remember your birthday and celebrating it with you.
Tomorrow is my first day at my new school, I hope everything goes well.
With that, I turned off the light and drifted off to a deep sleep.
