His phone told Connor he had gotten a message. He grabbed his phone and saw the little green symbol. His thumb swiped over the glass and let him lock up his phone. The message showed on the screen confused him a bit.

10.47 AM, Unknown
Hey

Who was this? He didn't recognize the number and didn't know anyone who would text him this randomly. Ignoring his confusion he typed in an answer and pressed send.

11.02 AM, Connor
Um...hi?

11.03 AM, Unknown
What's up?

Connor really didn't want to talk to this stranger, but how could he turn this person down nicely?

11.03 AM, Connor
Not much... Who is this?

11.03 AM, Unknown
Oh sorry! It's Troye. Who are you?

"Who are you?" What did he mean with who are you? Didn't he know who he was texting? Why did he text him in the first place?

11.03 AM, Connor
Me? I'm Connor...

11.04 AM, Troye
Connor, nice

Okay, this was kind of freaking Connor out now. Who was this Troye? Why did he text him?

11.04 AM, Connor
Sorry but how did you find me?

11.05 AM, Troye
That's actually an interesting story. You see, I was bored, sitting in my room when I came up with the brilliant idea to text a random number and see if the person answers!

This was complete bullshit, Connor had much more important stuff to do than talking to some bored stranger. He couldn't waste his time on this.

11.05 AM, Troye
You're the first one answering

11.05 AM, Connor
Okay.. Nice talking to you Troye, but I really gotta go

11.06 AM, Troye
No!! Don't leave me alone with my boredom!!

Did he think he was being funny now? Or was he just that childish?

11.07 AM, Connor
Don't ever text this number again, okay? Bye

11.07 AM, Troye
Nooooo!!!

Connor was a pretty shy 22 year old boy. He didn't have many friends, since he wasn't letting people in his life. He knew they'd only get bored with him. Everyone else did.

He had only been in one good relationship, with this boy named Matt. They had went to the same school and were the only gay boys there. Matt came out pretty early and Connor would always envy that. He wish he had his courage.

Connor and Matt had been secretly together during the summer break in 11th grade. Matt knew Connor were scared of the thought of coming out to his family and those in school. He tried to convince him that it was okay, that it would be better if they knew. But still, Connor couldn't. He tried to tell his mother once but the words got stuck in his throat, creating a big lump that made him want to throw up. He ended up changing the subject with a "nevermind" and she understood that whatever he was about to say, he didn't want to talk about it.

When the summer got to its end and Connor still hadn't come out yet, Matt broke up with him. He said he couldn't live in a secret and Connor understood him. He didn't want to live in a secret either, but he couldn't get the words out of his mouth.

Yes, he understood why Matt had left him. But still it broke his heart. He'd really had strong feelings for Matt, and he knew Matt had had strong feelings for him as well. He saw it in his eyes when they walked past each other in school after the breakup, the way they caught eyes for a second and then both looked away, hurt.

But that was long ago. Connor did still think of Matt sometimes, wondering if things would've been different if he had come out.

By this time he had come out to his family and they had all taken it well. His mother had expected it since when he tried to tell her the first time. She hadn't pushed him to say it since she knew he would tell her when he was ready. He didn't have a lot friends left to come out to since they had all gotten bored with him, of course.

The day went past and when he was going to bed he checked his phone, just as normal. What was not normal was the little, red notifications bubble next to the green message app showing him the number 28. He rolled his eyes. This Troye never gave up, did he? He pressed the green square and saw the conversation with Troye having a blue dot by its side. With a sigh he scrolled up to the first message and started reading them through. They all included something about Connor coming back, or Troye being bored, or Connor being mean for ignoring him.

10.27 PM, Troye
So now it's time to read, huh?

Oh fuck, this boy really didn't have anything else to do?

10.27 PM, Connor
Um.. I was busy all day

10.27 PM, Connor
Besides, I told you to stop texting me

10.28 PM, Troye
Guess I didn't listen

10.28 PM, Connor
Well, maybe you should because I don't want to talk to you anymore! I don't even know who you are!

10.28 PM, Troye
I told you, I'm Troye...

10.28 PM, Connor
Well thanks! That's really helping

Connor put his phone away and sighed. This Troye was really pissing him off. He could think of a couple better things he could do instead of talking to this guy.

But because of some reason, when the screen lit up, letting him know that Troye had answered his text, Connor were soon writing something back to the boy who had just today disturbed Connors ordinary life.

And even though how many times Connor told himself that this was just a waste of time, he would not put his phone away until Troye had texted him goodnight at 2 in the morning. He fell asleep before thinking over why he had spent his night talking to the stranger he didn't even like earlier.
