"Wait, wait," Amber says. "You guys made out, and got down and dirty?!"

I nod, picking at my food. "Are you guys dating now?!" Chloe and Amber ask in unison.

"I guess," I say, shrugging my shoulders. Chloe squeals.

"Hey, Nicole, " Justin says, kissing me on the forehead. I shiver in his presence, feeling absolutely safe in his hands. "I got to go to the library, see you later," he says. "Bye."

Amber and Chloe look away. "Awkward."

***

Me and Justin are sitting in the library together, holding hands like that one weird couple. "Where are we going to for our date?" I whisper to him. "There's really cool place that just opened down the street. It's sushi." "Sounds delish."

Justin chuckles. I look down, embarrassed.

"What's wrong?" Justin asks.

"Nothing. It's just weird now that we're dating," I say. "It can be a secret, you know," Justin says.

"I would like that, thank you."

"I have to go," I say, grabbing my bag.

I quickly get out of that awkwardness.

"I don't know how I feel about this," I say through the phone. Amber and Chloe gasp. "For real?!" Chloe complains. "We'be been planning this for months!"

I scoff. "I have to go. Justin is probably driving here soon." "Have fun!" Amber and Chloe shout into the phone.

I hope this goes well. I truly love him, I just don't know how I feel about all this.

I walk downstairs, breathing in the smell of spaghetti. "Bye mom! Going to Amber's house!" I yell. "Have fun!" My mom yells back. I step out into the chilly air.

"Ugh. Where is he?" I mumble. I wrap my coat tighter around my body. I pick up my cracked phone, dialing Justin's number. "Come on, pick up."

I get forwarded to voice mail. "What?"

I text my mother.

Sent at 6:30 to 'Mother': Going to use your car. Hope you're not going anywhere.

I grab the keys in the plant pot. "Time to go pick up my boyfriend," I mumble.

I knock on Justin's front door. His mom opens the door. "Hey Ms. Keegan," I say. "Oh hello Nicole! Are you looking for Justin?" I nod quickly.

"He left, he went to someone's house," she says, clearly feeling bad for me. "Oh really? Who's?" I ask. Ms. Keegan shrugs. "Thank you," I say.

She shuts the door, leaving me once more in the freezing cold. I text Justin, agitated.

Sent at 6:47 to 'Justin': Where the hell are you? My butt is freezing off. And I don't think you men like cold butts.

I hop into the car. "Time to go to Tyler's place."

***

I pound on Tyler's door. He opens the door, with a beer bottle in his hand. "Hey, sugar honey," he says, probably drunk. "Where's Justin?" I ask. "Don't know." "You can hang out with me though." "Uh, no thank you," I say, quickly walking out.

Suddenly, I hear a trash can knock over. "Frick!" A familiar voice shouts. "Justin?!" I shout. Then, I see someone who shatters me. "Oh crap," Justin mumbles. Amber walks out of the bushes, only wearing her bra and pants. "Nicole," she breathes. "No. This can't be," I mumble. "Nicole, calm down," Justin says, walking closer.

"No. Get away from me. GET AWAY FROM ME!" I scream. Tears start streaming down my face. "What the hell were you doing screwing around with my best friend?!" I shout, sobbing uncontrollably. "Nicole! I didn't want you to find out like this!" Amber says, putting her sweater on. "Of course you didn't!" I shout. "You bitch! I thought you were my friend!" I sob some more, sitting on the ground.

"Nicole, we can explain," Justin says, calmly. "No. You can't. How can you explain this frickin bag of crap!?" I shout, pointing at Amber.

"Nicole," Amber says, tears starting to fall.

"How can you explain?! How?!" I shout back. "How?" I whisper, putting my head in my hands, rocking back and forth.

Justin runs his fingers through his hair. "You know what, we're over," I say, getting up. "What?" Justin says. "Did you really think I would stay with you when you banged my own best friend?" I whisper. "And you," I point at Amber. "Stay away from me and Chloe. I doubt she even knew about this crap."

I quickly walk away, pulling my coat tighter around my waist. Nobody's following. Nobody cares.

I hop into the car, not looking at Justin nor Amber. They betrayed me. Amber. Justin.

They betrayed me.
