Danielle. She was young girl, maybe a little over 9 years old. She had a wonderful life, well at least a normal one. She had a small family and she lived with her parents. Her mom was a teacher, and her dad was a engineer. She had no siblings, and all of her grandparents were either dead or senile. she had no aunts or uncles or any cousins. When she was almost 7 years old her parents died in a car accident. It was nobody's fault, but just some random accident. Since she had no family who was able to take care of her, she was put in an orphanage. The orphanage was made of Bricks and materials similar to it , and it a was fairly new building. The building was big and spacious.
Her life in the orphanage was nothing like her old life, she went to a new school, had no friends, or no one to talk to. She mostly spent her days alone reading or playing with her stuffed animals. All she had left to her name was the clothes she wore, some books, her stuffed animals, and jewelry or special items from her parents. All of which she kept in a box under her bed. Now she had a lot of stuffed animals. See what her parents did was whenever they went on a trip,or did something special they commemorated the occasion by buying her a stuffed animal. So she had a lot, because they took a lot of trips, and did a lot of things special together as a family.
At the orphanage she lived what you could call a basic, normal life. Her life though was lonely, and boring especially compared to her life before, but she was able to get through. She had been obviously traumatized, and scared with her parents death, but also with the fact that in one day her life had changed so drastically. The fact that she had to deal with both of her parents deaths at such a young age is the most likely reason for her social isolation. Though she enjoyed her stories, the books she read, I think the reason she loved to read so much was because it took her into a fantasy world. A world where she did not have to face her parents death, or her loneliness. She had friends in her books for whom she could relate to or to be able to escape her world in adventures with. Not only did she read just the books she had kept from her old life, those books she read over and over again many Times, but she read books that she liked from the library. She liked all kinds of books such as adventures, mysteries, crime fighting books, and many more. I think that she like the puzzle aspect of those kinds, and the fact that it also distracted her.
Now as I said she mostly spent her days alone. Her day mostly consisted of her going to school, doing work both in the orphanage, and her work for school, and reading. She also, especially when first arrived at the orphanage, was required to see a therapist to deal with the loss. Even Though she does not go as much anymore, they still work it into her schedule, and that is mostly because of her isolation. It is usually suggested that she interact with other children, and sometimes she is made to participate in a group project so she can get out of her fantasy world. When given the choice though she usually chooses not to interact with the other Children.
Her day started out thought as a normal day, well at least for her. She woke up that day and went on her day as if nothing was going to happen, of course that is because she did not know at that time what was going to happen. She went to class, did her chores, and sat alone in her room while she read her books and drew. It wasn't a real busy day for her. So she just sat in her room for almost the whole day. Later that night she got ready for bed. She brushed her teeth, put her pajamas on and went to sleep. That night she had a strange experience. She was sleeping and then all of a sudden she heard a noise, a strange noise. She heard something she had never heard before. She sat up with surprise and shock, and looked around curiously to see where the sound came from. She thought that maybe someone was up talking, that maybe someone could not sleep. When she looked around she saw that no one was up and that they were all asleep. She could not find out where it was coming from. She started to move toward the noise, and she found that was coming from under her bed. She looked and saw her box rattle, and became scared. She did not know what to think, but she decided to look anyway. She had to know what that noise was. When she looked in the box she found her stuffed animals talking. She couldn't make any sense of it. All of a sudden. The stuffed animals stopped their conversations and they all started at her. " what's going on, I don't understand this " said Danielle as he looked at her animals All looking at her. The penguin she named Peter answers " hello Danielle, did we wake you sorry about that we were just having a debate over, well that's not important we'll try to keep our noise down so you can sleep". A confused Danielle Says " what's going on, y'all should not be talking ". "What do you mean we can't talk we obviously are" responds Peter. " Yea" the other animals shout. " hush, did I say you can talk" says Peter. As Peter and the other animal argue Danielle just sits there not knowing what to say anymore." well you need to get some sleep Danielle. Tomorrow will be a long day" Said Peter after he had finished his argument with the other animal. " well I think I need to get me some sleep Anyways this is weird" Said Danielle softly as she climbed into bed. She did not want to wake anyone else up, and she especially did not anyone to think she was crazy.
That morning she woke up and most of that night was a blur. So she thought it was just a dream, and with that in mind she went on with her day. She went to school did her chores, and everything else she usually does. She did not give what happened that night a second thought. She went back to her room before she had to be ready for dinner. As she sits on her bed and gets ready to read the book she has been reading, all of a sudden she hears chatting. She looks around and no one else was in the room. " Not this Again" says danielle when she realized what was happening. She sat on her bed and tried to ignore the sounds, but she just couldn't so she quickly closed her book left her room in panic. When she reached to main living area it was time to eat. They all sat around the table and ate dinner. After dinner she went to get ready for bed. Since she did not want to back to her room because of the noises she heard, she took her time and went slowly going to bed. That night it was hard for her to sleep because of the noises she heard, and the chatting. Overwhelmed by all the noises she was hearing danielle jumped out of her bed, pulled the box out from under her bed, opened the box, and when she was about to scream at them to be quiet. Just like they sensed what she was going to do they all stopped and stared at her, " shhhhh" they said. " You're telling me to shush, you are the ones who can stop talking, if you're talking or whatever I don't know anymore" said Danielle. " Sorry if we are disturbing you " said peter. " I am just trying to get some sleep whether you're actually talking or it is just in your head or whatever I need you to stop because I can't sleep". " we never meant to cause you any sleep deprivation, I am sorry. We will try to keep it down". Confused and creeped out from talking to her animals, Danielle crawled into bed, and tried her best to get some sleep.
When she woke up, still feeling tired because of the lack of sleep she had received that last night, she slowly walked into the dining room for breakfast. Being that she usually stuck to herself no one really noticed how tired she was. Some of the supervisors noticed but they thought that it was just danielle being danielle. She went through her whole day tired and almost fell asleep in almost all of her classes.
That day was the day that she goes to her therapist. She thought about telling her therapist what happened, telling her that she had been hearing things. That she had been talking to her stuffed animals, and that the constant noise didn't allow her to get any sleep last night. " should I tell her" she thought, " will she think I am crazy and lock me in a psychiatric ward". She thought about this as she was sitting there in the chair waiting for her therapist to come inside. "Hello Danielle, how are you today. You seem tired did you not sleep well last night" said her therapist as she entered the room. " yea" said Danielle, " I had some trouble sleeping". " Really " said her therapist, " Well why don't you tell me about it". "There is not much to tell" said Danielle. " Really. Ok, well then tell me what there is to tell" said her therapist. " " There is nothing to tell" said Danielle in a troubled voice, scared to tell her therapist what has been happening. " Danielle, I can tell that something is going on with you. You need to tell me. You can't just keep your feelings inside you like that. What you are doing is not healthy" said her therapist. " Fine" said Danielle, " For the past two days i have been hearing voices in my room, but only in my room". " hmm" said her therapist, " what kind of voices have you been hearing". " well that is hard to explain" said Danielle. " Just try" Said her therapist. " Ok. well i have been hearing my stuffed animals talking. I don't know if this is just in my head. or real. This has been real hard on me, and last night they kept me up all night with their noise" said Danielle. " well, that was not hard. now why couldn't you tell me that" said her therapist. " I was afraid that you think I was crazy and that you would send me off to some mental hospital" said Danielle. " No Danielle. I think your problem is very simple. said her therapist. " What is that" said Danielle. " I believe that your mind is just manifesting companions for you.See people need to talk to people and interact with other. since you have been closing yourself off from people your mind is, in a sense, creating friends for you" said her therapist. " Well if that is true why is that just happening now" said Danielle. " I don't know there could be many reasons why, but all i think you need is some time spent with kids your age. I know your parents deaths have affected you greatly in many ways but you need to let yourself out of this bubble you put yourself in" her therapist said. " Ok" she said, " I will try my best" said Danielle. "I know you will and thanks for telling me" said her therapist.
After Danielle told her therapist about what was happening it seemed that her life became better. She became more involved in projects and clubs, and she even made a few friends. She found people who similar interests to her, and became a little less lonely. She still felt the loss of her parents death, but this just comes to show you that no matter what you go through in life it is never good to put yourself in a box.
