"Julia... Julia... The test results are in, don't you want to take a look?" The ginger-haired girl looked up to see the twins, Xavier and Yale, both looking at her excitedly.
"What's the point?" She murmured bitterly. "I don't care what the results are. I just want to get out of the care-center." But as she couldn't disappoint the pleading expression on her friends faces, Julia allowed herself to be pulled up by the pair.
"All three of us should look together!" Yale twittered, her gorgeous black hair tied up in a pony tail.
"You do realize you may have to cut that." Julia said awkwardly. "If we- you get put in a more violent district, your hair will only get in the way."
"Well it's not like she's getting separated from me!" Xavier declared. "We have to go to the same district, we're twins after all. Same minds, and you'll be with us too, Jules!"
She winced when Xavier used her common nickname. It wouldn't be like that if she got put in Greed, Pride, or even worse... Wrath. Sighing, she folded her arms. "Well, I'm ready to cut my hair anyways, it's getting too tangled. And they separated all of us from our parents, you think they won't do it to twins? The over-lords are merciless cowards who have dammed all of us. I hate the Lend system-"
Her defiant speech was cut off as Yale clamped a hand over her mouth. "Julia!" She hissed. "You seem to forget where we're going- the main hall- with guards!"
Julia removed the other girls hand and walked in silence from then on, as the twins continued to chatter away. How can they be so happy? She thought. Don't they realize that we could all be dead the minute we step into our new districts? Shaking her head, she entered the hall.
Kids were already crying, looking at the results on the big white screen. Some of them were already cutting their hair, Julia saw a couple of kids in the corner pleading with the guards- probably to just kill them then and there. And then there were the kids who were just sitting in shock, too numb to even cry.
Taking shaky steps up to the screen, Julia searched and hunted for her name. And then she saw it. Her stomach seemed to drop and Julia fought the urge to throw up the small slice of toast she had eaten for lunch.
Julia P...... Wrath.
Wrath. She had been placed into Wrath. The fighting district. The one no kid wanted to go to, except the lunatics. She couldn't fight, she didn't know how to hold a gun. Stumbling backwards, everything around her seemed to blur. Wrath. Why Wrath. Why not just take a needle and inject poison into her veins? How the hell was she, a scrawny 13-year-old girl, supposed to survive in Wrath?! The results were wrong, this had to be a nightmare! But still, Julia knew deep down she could not escape her fate.
"Jules.." She heard one of the twins speak, yet it didn't connect with her brain. Julia couldn't think.
She ran out of the main hall, to go lock herself in her room. And wait till the trains arrived.
