"Oh my gosh! I can't believe my little boy is going to college! Are you sure you don't want to stay with me, Daehyunnie?" Mrs. Jung fiddles with her fingers, desperately trying to hold back the tears threatening to pool over her eyelids. "I'm gonna be so lonely without you, sweetie."
"I'll miss you, Mom, but I want to become independent, okay? I know it's hard with..." Daehyun scowls. "...the whole Dad thing, but we've gotten by okay so far. You're a strong woman, you'll be fine." He gives his mother a reassuring smile, but inside he admits he's a little scared about moving into a dorm by himself. Atleast he'll have a roommate to talk to.
His mom doesn't buy it. "Are you sure you're gonna be okay? I mean remember that kid who bullied you in high school? What was his name...something Jae, right?"
Daehyun clenches his jaw. "Youngjae. Yoo Youngjae." His eyes darken, remembering all the shit the older male had put him through all of those years. "I will forever hate him. I'm so glad I'm away from that school, and away from him."
Mrs. Jung puts a hand on her son's shoulder. "Now honey, we don't hate anyone. We hate their actions."
"No, Mom, I legit hate him. Everything about him. I really-" He stops when he sees an all-too-familiar face out of the corner of his eye.
Daehyun turns to the side, but sees no sign of the other male. No...he can't be here. No way in hell. His mom snaps him back into focus.
"What's wrong, sweetie?"
He blinks and turns back to face her. "N-nothing...I just thought I-...nevermind."
"See? This is exactly what I was afraid of! Daehyun, you're clearly not ready to-"
"I'm fine, Mom." Daehyun says flatly. "Now go. I gotta get settled in."
"Okay...I love you."
He pulls his mother in for a long hug. "I love you too. Take care of yourself, okay? I'll be home for fall break."
Mrs. Jung sniffles and turns away, walking toward her car.
Daehyun looks up at the extremely tall building full of dorm rooms, and lets out a breath of amazement.
He suddenly feels warm breath on his neck. "Isn't it stunning?" A voice whispers, making Daehyun shiver at the coldness in the speaker's voice.
"Almost as stunning as you." The other's voice is husky and low.
Daehyun swallows and turns around to face the anonymous male. He gasps, taking in the other's beauty.
A chuckle sounds from the angelic male. "Like what you see, Shorty?"
The younger blushes, knowing he was caught like a deer in the headlights.
"I'm Himchan by the way. Kim Himchan. A junior here. I could show you around if you want. I always have time for cute guys like you." Himchan licks his lips slowly.
"A tour would be nice, actually. Thanks, Himchan." Daehyun smiles at the other male, ignoring the fact that the man was hitting on him.
Himchan wraps an arm around Daehyun's shoulders, pulling him along.
They walk in silence for a few minutes before reaching a tall and magnificent looking fountain.
"This is the Gobé Fountain. Constructed by the man himself, Edward Gobé." Himchan says as Daehyun whistles in admiration. "Well, hence the name of the university, Gobéton University."
Before Daehyun really has time to bask in the beauty of the fountain, Himchan is whisking the younger away to a new part of campus.
They spend an hour or so touring the university, and finally, they reach the place Daehyun wanted to see most of all, the dorm rooms.
He's practically shaking with excitement as Himchan leads him up to the front desk to get his room number and key.
The secretary clicks her gum. "Name?" Her voice is high pitched and nasally, causing Daehyun to flinch.
"Uh, um..." He stutters.
Himchan steps in front of him. "Jung Daehyun."
The older smiles at the woman and takes the key from her outstretched hand, wincing when he notices her awful manicure.
"Room 272."
Himchan nods and steers a confused looking Daehyun to the elevator.
"How did you know my name? I never even told you!" He says once they're inside.
The other shrugs. "It's on all of your bags. It wasn't hard to figure out."
"Mom..." Daehyun groans, noticing his name written on every single one of his bags.
Himchan chuckles, earning a glare from the younger. "It's not funny!" He hisses.
A loud "ding" is heard when they reach the second flood of the building, and the duo steps out of the elevator, greeted by the sight of other students bustling about.
"Okay, your room is number 272...let's go check it out!" Himchan says, already running down the hall to the left.
"Wait! I need help with my..." Daehyun sighs, seeing the older already gone. "...bags. Ugh." He groans and slowly heads in the direction his companion went.
Finally reaching the right numbered room, Daehyun collapses on the floor in front of the doorway.
Himchan sticks his head out from behind the door. "What took you so damn long?"
Daehyun shoots him a death glare, grumbling "stupid uzzlang".
The older gives him a bright smile and pulls him inside. "Look how awesome this is, Dae!"
Exploring every inch of his new room, Daehyun's heart flutters in his chest. "I love it!" He squeals.
"Me too, me too." Himchan says, pulling some of the younger's bags through the doorway. "Do you need help unpacking? Please say no."
Daehyun rolls his eyes. "No I don't." He hears the other male sigh in relief.
"Thank god, holy shit."
Chuckling, Daehyun goes to help his friend bring in the last few bags. "I cannot thank you enough for everything you've done for me, Himchan. It really means a lot." He says, smiling.
Himchan's blush fills the apples of his cheeks a deep pink hue. "Um...it was my pleasure." His blush deepens, if that's possible, when Daehyun pulls him into a tight hug.
"I really wish you were my roommate!" The younger says, pouting.
"Yeah, me too. But unfortunately, upperclassmen don't room with freshmen. But who knows? Maybe you'll get an amazing, hot roommate! Damn, I'd be sooo jealous." Himchan prys himself out of Daehyun's iron grip and, walks into the hallway, waving before disappearing down the hall.
Daehyun sighs, already missing the company. He begins to hang up posters and place things where they need to go. He makes his bed up, hoping that his roommate would be okay with him choosing the right side of the room. Daehyun liked this side because of the gorgeous view of the mountains in the distance. He couldn't wait to see them in the evening.
After about forty-fives minutes of unpacking and arranging, Daehyun hears shuffling by the door and turns around.
A male his age is standing in the doorway, head down, looking at his schedule.
Daehyun puts on a bright smile. "Hi! My name's Daehyun and I'm your roo-"
The other looks up, hearing someone talking to him.
"-Youngjae?!" Daehyun pales.
Youngjae flashes him a wide grin. "Nerdo!"
"Please don't say-"
"We're gonna be roomies!" The older smirks, causing Daehyun to groan.
So much for having a perfect day.
