***Penni***
After James left, the day was pretty normal. Well as normal can be with a wounded stranger who just got threatened in your shop by a really sweet guy who just so happens to be the younger brother to the leader of a gang that controls the next three counties…
It’s around five when Benny and Kiven come back.
“Did you miss me, flora?” Benny says and gives me a hug. “Benny, it’s been less than twelve hours.” I say deadpan. I don’t mean to be rude, it’s just that James took my energy when he left. Kiven notices and pulls Benny off me. “Sweetie, they’ve probably had a long day, so let me help Westly up to bed and lest go get some dinner.” Benny pouts, and looks at me for conformation. I give him a tired smile and a hug. “Sorry, just a lot happened today.” Benny gives me a sympathetic smile and pats my back. “Awe! My poor baby! Well I hope that the free-loader doesn’t have anything to do with it!” she stairs Westly down. Kiven chuckles, and bops Benny’s head. Then he moves over to Westly and helps him up. “Come on, before Benny want’s to kill you.” I laugh, but Westly doesn’t look happy.
We get Westly settled, and Kiven is checking his bandages. “Oh, by the way, I didn’t catch your name.” Westly says to Kiven. “Well I do apologize, I have not introduced myself. My name is Kiven Marks Smith. I’m the doctor at the local clinic.” they shake hands, and walk Benny and Kiven out.
I close up the shop, and on my way up, I over hear Westly on the phone. “No, no.” There was a pause, then Westly bellowed, “I swear Dad, if you send any help, then I will never talk to you again! Do you hear me?! This is my first solo operation, I can handle myself. I mean all I have to do is establish a contact group, and make sure it’s clear what happens if you mess with us.” there was anther pause. “Dad, don’t you think that if I’m going to inherit the family business, then I should know how things in our organization work?” OK, so he’s either the head of some big company, or he’s in the mob…I really hope that it’s the latter… “Just hand the phone to Mom!” I giggle. So he’s a momma’s boy. “Thank god. Please talk to your husband! Yeah, I’m alright. The people here are real nice. Yeah, I promise to eat right, and I’ll call tomorrow. Okay, love you too, bye.” I wait a little and then enter the room.
Kiven said that his injuries were healed enough so that he can take the couch. I feel a little guilty, but I’m happy to be able to sleep on my own bed.
I must be making a weird face, because he gives me a defensive, “What?” I giggle. “You’re a mamma’s boy.” Westly blushes, and stutters, “H-how much did you hear?” I snicker. “Just you promising to be good to your mommy.” he blushes deeper.
You know what?
I think he’s really cute.
