As I sat in between my parents at my so called "going away party" I realized my life sucks. Nobody came of course because no one really cares. Hell, I could disappear one day and no one would notice. Let me introduce myself, I'm Jasmine.

I'm a seventeen year old who is practically invisible to the rest of the world. See I threw this so called party because I'm going off to boarding school, not because I'm a troublesome child, simply for the fact that I want to. My high school career is going nowhere and I needed a change from sitting alone at lunch or no one talking to me. I decided to retire to my room since the party was an epic failure.

Once in my room I felt relieved, I guess you could explain my feelings about leaving neutral. For the fact that I'm what people consider an outsider at school, but I also feel bad about leaving my parents. They are kinda confused as to why I want to go. I really don't know myself, I'm looking for something different, almost like a "great perhaps" what ever that's supposed to mean I read it in a book once.

I heard a knock on my door, "Come in"

"Jasmine, are you upset that no one came to your party?" My mother asked.

"No, why would I be?"

"We were a little concerned that's all"

My parents are amazing people and all but they don't know a thing about me.

"Just worried about you Jazzy, wouldn't want you to leave on a sad note" My father stated.

"I'm fine guys, I promise"

"Alright, well we're gonna go downstairs and clean up"

"Goodnight"

"Goodnight" they spoke in unison.

As they closed my bedroom door, I couldn't help but think of what they may do when I'm gone, I mean they don't have very much going for them dad is a real estate agent and mom is a stay at home mom. I guess you could say I'm their life. They will just have to deal with it though because I'm looking for bigger and better things.

When I woke the next morning, I didn't feel my usual urge to lay in bed all day. I felt energized, actually excited. I got up and did my usually hygiene routine and put on some sweats and a plain graphic tee.

I came downstairs to the smell of pancakes, my favorite. Mom was trying to make my day a little better and forget about last nights events. Even though it didn't bother as much as it bothered my parents.

"Good Morning, Sweetheart" my father spoke.

"Morning, Dad"

"Ready to get on the road, champ?"

"As ready as I'll ever be"

"Good Morning, Jasmine" my mother said.

"Morning, Mom"

"Ready to get going?"

"Yeah, something like that"

"Alright well lets get ya out there" my father said.

As I arrived at school, reality set in. I was free to experience anything my heart desired.

I know sounds corny, but I really needed a change. I started unpacking my things in my dorm along with the help of my parents. As I was doing so I couldn't help but wonder what my roommate was like. Was she gonna be a bitch? or someone I could relate to? Turns out it was more of a surprise than I thought uhh, my roommate was a guy.
