Huawei B315 is one of the new LTE devices released this year. It is a LTE CAT4 router that is ideally suited as a DSL replacement with its four fast Gigabit LAN ports, a wireless interface and a phone port. Now many online stores list the B315 router as the replacement of B593, is it necessary to replace your B593 router to the newer B315? Take a look at the comparison between the B593 and B315.
Appearance
Sized 139 x 186 x 46 mm, the B315 (http://www.store4g.com/huawei-b315/ ) has five LED indicators for power, wireless network connection status, Ethernet and reception signal on the front. And two external antenna connectors, four RJ45 ports for Gigabit LAN connecting, one RJ11 port for telephone and a USB 2.0 port at the back.
For B593 router (http://www.store4g.com/huawei-b593/ ), it is 190 x 35 x 176 mm in dimension. It has six LED indicators for power, WLAN, WPS, Telephone, mode and signal on the front. And two external antenna connectors, four LAN ports, two RJ11 port for telephone and a USB 2.0 port at the backside.
Network band
All Huawei routers and modems are all have different branch models. The B593 includes B593U-12, B593s-82, B593u-91, B593-850 etc. that supports FDD 800/900/1800/2100/2600MHz and TDD 1900/2300/2600MHz. For the Huawei B315 router, the main branch model of B315s-607 and B315s-22 supports FDD 700/800/900/1800/2100/2600MHz and TDD 2300/2600MHz.
Network speed
The lower model number that B315 does seem newer, it is a LTE CAT4 router that could download speed up to 150 Mbps and upload speed up to 50 Mbps. B593 CPE is a LTE CAT3 router (only Huawei B593s-22 is CAT4 router), which allows download speed up to 100 Mbps and upload speed up to 50 Mbps
Wireless performance
The B593 max is 100Mps and the B315 150Mps. This is a fairly subjective upgrade as 150Mbs is a maximum speed and completely dependent on the network layout and the distances between router and client devices. It upgrades with intelligent Wi-Fi interference elimination algorithm and it could cover smoother wireless network for 250 meters.
Voice over IP (VOIP) function
The Huawei B593 doesn't have the complete suite of VOIP function. And the B315 is upgraded with such function. B315 can connect an analog phone via the rear RJ-11 port. If the inserted SIM card phone connections, the router can therefore be used for outgoing and incoming calls. However, the router can only support telephone calls via the GSM and UMTS mobile network. The VoLTE is not yet available on huawei B315, and the voice calls over the Internet regardless of the inserted SIM card are is not supported.
Conclusion
Back to the question, should you replace the B593 to B315? It depends.
From network band side, if you want to use the router under FDD 700mhz, then B315 is the choice. For using the router under TDD 1900mhz, B593 is good.
From the speed side, if you want to get a high speed on the mobile network. You could take the B315 into consideration. One thing you should note, the B593 performs a faster download speed in weak signal area than B315. If you want to use B315, it is better to install the external antenna.
From the wireless performance and VOIP side, the B315 does a better job than B593. Just replace it if you want.
