America's point of view

I was devastated that Maxon chose Kriss and if he truly loved me wouldn't he have chosen me, but I guess he doesn't. I was sobbing in the garden during the party until a hand gently touched my shoulder. It was my best friend Princess Nicoletta's brother Prince Mason.
He asked, "Are you ok."
I replied ,"No."
"Would you care to dance with me?"
I didn't know what else to do so I said, "Yes."
While I was dancing with Mason, he seemed very sweet unlike Maxon who was a backstabbing jerk.

Was it just me...or was the way Mason looking at me the way Maxon used to look at me?

Mason's point of view
I was finally dancing with America Singer! I had a crush on her ever since I first laid my eyes on her when Prince Maxon's Selection started. Everything about her is perfect. Her fiery red hair, her ice blue eyes, her chiseled skin.
During the dance, she was staring intently at me...and the atmosphere was getting intense.

So I got down on one knee

"America Singer, since the day I saw you on TV in Prince Maxon's selection, I was in love with you. Not only were you beautiful, but you fought for other people and I admire you for that."
"Will you you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?"

America's point of view

Prince Mason just proposed to me and the words he described about me was sweet. It was better than any description Maxon ever described me.

He never said that I fought for other people when I did...Although I didn't love Mason...I felt like I had to accept because maybe I can learn to love him as our relationship progresses on..

And why shouldn't I say no...After all, I see no reason to stay in Illea anymore since Maxon chose Kriss as his bride..

I knew he never trusted me ever since the incident with Aspen so why bother?

And so I looked straight into Mason's earnest eyes and said, "Yes I will marry you."

Mason slid the ring onto my finger and twirled me around in the air.

I actually felt happy for once...No more stress from that damn Selection or Maxon.

We were suddenly interrupted with someone who cried,"No!" It was Maxon!
"America! You can't marry him. I made a mistake, I want you!"

I didn't answer, instead I asked, "Mason, when are we departing for Italy?"

"How about right now?" he asked.
"That would be wonderful."

Right before I left the room, I said to Maxon, "I hope you have a great time with Kriss, your Majesty" with some venom in my voice

Maxon's Point of View

What on earth have I just done...I just made the worse decision of my life...

This pain was much worse than the pain my father gave me...What have I done?

Seeing America in the arms of another man tore my heart apart.
