Forgotten

Eyes blank, reflecting an empty room,

You realize now, your time has come too soon.

Numb, a rope in one hand,

Forgotten now, so alone you stand.

Dreams follow to a wooden chair,

Soon to be kicked beneath the feet of despair.

A thought apprehends,

And you almost pretend.

But your fate is finally condemned,

So now you tie the ends.

The dog circles, his pelt black as night,

He waits with gleaming eyes, for you to end this fight.

Forgotten now, your only friend.

In him, your heart is penned.

You step up now, the rope takes hold,

It spreads a warmth, but chills so cold.

Your dreams are swallowed to the floor,

Forgotten now, your heart ignored.
