Percy POV
"Glad that you wanted me on your team" I mutter. Annabeth's brush off stung , but I refused to let that stand in my way . She was probably stressed out,after tolerating me for a whole day and then planning the Athena cabins strategy. She and the Hermes kid,Luke obviously had something going on. He is strong ,smart and far more experienced than me. Why would Annabeth choose me , the newcomer over him? The odds were most certainly not in my favor. But I'm not one to give up easily. I'm struck out of my thought as the shouting begins. I see Luke , with his sword and humongous shield , effortlessly dashing through the crowd and edging closer to enemy ground. I follow him . I swing my sword and manage to take down a another Hermes kid.
How did I just do that????? . No time to ponder that now. I keep running and find myself in an area surrounded by a small stream where two defenders assigned by Annabeth stand protecting the Athena cabins flag . Annabeth told me earlier that I'm supposed to defend , so I stand with them and scan my surroundings.
After a few minutes,the other two defenders ,without warning , dash of into the woods. And I'm left there alone. Probably another part of the plan . Maybe Annabeth needs them somewhere else . Then a single figure,walked towards me. And it's followed by more . I have to stifle a scream when I see that it's ...non other than the entire Ares cabin led by Clarisse herself.
