When Janie returned from her dreams, she realized she was in a bed with moonlight shining on her face. Her eyes adjusted slowly to the light, every detail of the room becoming more clear. The bed she was on was just beneath a large window, and a lonely chair sat in the corner. An open door led to an unkown space on the other side of the room, but other than the thick curtain on the side of the window, there was nothing else in the room. Janie slipped out from under the covers, touching her feet to the surprisingly cool floor. Suddenly, a deep growl from outside made her stop in her tracks. A shadow passed over the window. Heavy footsteps on the other side of the wall. Then- nothing. No sound, no shadow, no growl. Janie began to slowly continue moving towards the door, when it swung open and she screamed.

"Janie!"

Luke's voice immediately broke her scream.

"Luke! You scared the Hell out of me!"

Luke laughed, then walked over to Janie to wrap her in a tight hug.

"Well I am sorry love, but I had to hunt."

Janie pulled back and looked him in the eye, realizing they were A very dark blue.

"When did your eyes turn blue?"

Luke swore and turned away, putting his hand to his face. Janie touched his back.

"Luke? When did your eyes get to be that color?"

Luke took a deep breath, then turned back to her. His eyes were back to their normal hazel color, and he flashed her a wicked smile.

"Just forgot to take my contacts out, sorry."

Janie glared at him, then crossed her arms and popped one hip.

"Bullshit."

"Excuse me?"

"Show me them."

Luke shifted uncomfortably. "Show you what?"

"Your contacts, stupid."

Luke laughed nervously, his eyes darting all over the room. Janie stepped forward and took both his hands.

"You don't have contacts, Luke. Now you are going to explain to me-right now-what the hell is going on. Those guys accused you of being a demon. What did they mean?"

Luke took a slow, deep breath and rubbed his hands over his face.

"I don't think I should-"

Janie stopped him with a piercing glare. "Luke Bronson, If you ever want to see my face again, I suggest you tell me the truth."

"Alright, Alright." Luke smiled and ran his fingers through his hair. " This may be really hard for you to- well- grasp."

Janie sat on the edge of the bed, keeping her eyes fixed on Luke, who was now fidgeting nervously.

"A few years ago, I discovered that I was part of a family that had special abilities. My sister could read minds- I swear it's the truth." Luke argued at a look from Janie. "Just, bear with me here. Okay so my sister could read minds, my father could manipulate, heal, and create plant life, and my mother could see the future. Growing up, I didn't realize I had a 'gift'. Then one day, masked men came to kill my family, and I- changed."

Luke sighed at another look from Janie, then took her hands in his.

"You have to believe me, Janie. I'm telling you the absolute truth."

Janie considered him for a moment. "Okay, so, you changed. Changed how?"

"Well, when I let my emotion to take over to try to save my family, I-" Luke paused, opbviously struggling with his words. "transformed."
