I didn't have time to comprehend what it was. I heard a growl and it pounced. I screamed and fell on my back as the thing pinned me down. I looked up at the creature. It was a man. He looked to be around 19 or 20. He had a two animal ears and a long bushy tail. His hair was black/dark blue and he wore blue pants and a white shirt. He was a member of The Wolves. He wasn't as hideous as I imagined, the opposite in fact. Despite the fear I felt I started laughing.
"Why are you laughing?!" He barked at me.
"That's why!" I pointed at his hair and sniggered. My basket of bread had spilled all over us and he had a crumbs all over his hair.I brushed it out of his hair and his face flashed bright red with embarrassment. His blue blood shot eyes stared into mine. He stared at me like I was supposed to be doing something. After a minute or so I cleared my throat. "Mind getting off me?" I asked
"Why aren't you scared of me?!" He growled. "I'm a Wolf! A Freak! You should be running for the hills!" His gruff voice yelled.
"Do people even say 'Run for the hills' anymore?" I scoffed. For a short moment a smile formed on his face and he let out a small laugh. He quickly realised and twisted his face back into his serious expression. "Aha! So you can smile! I knew you were just pretending to be serious!" I taunted.
"Shut it!" He snapped. I giggled.
"So are you just going to keep me on the floor or can I get up?" Slowly he jumped off all fours and let me get up. "Thank you, I thought you would never get off!" I yelled while brushing off bread crumbs. I sighed and started picking up bread off the ground. He looked away and started laughing softly. "H-hey! What's so funny?!" I stammered.
"Oh nothing..." He grinned. "It's just that, you have jam on your butt." He said while laughing
"Ugh... She could've told me that i had to give grandma jam donuts too." I muttered. "Look, it's been fun." I said sarcastically. "but I need to go now." I waved at him as I walked off.
"Hey! Come back here!" He yelled. He ran to try and catch up with me. "You shouldn't be in the woods by yourself." He said as he walked beside me.
"Or what? You and your gang will eat me?" I said slightly annoyed. "I get it, thanks for the advice."
"No, not that. The Wolves will eat you but I'm not one of them. I mean, I'm a Hybrid but I don't belong to a gang." He explained." I'm a Lone wolf."
"Oh. That's cool." I started thinking. "Wait. If you weren't going to kill me then why did you jump on me?"
"I wasn't going to eat you. I was trying to save you. There's a turf war going on at the moment between two gangs of hybrids. I was trying to scare you away."
"I can take care of myself thanks, are you sure you'll be fine as a Lone wolf, I mean you could get hurt." I asked.
"Hey, if a little girl like you can survive out here, I'm sure I'll do just fine." I punched his arm in annoyance. "Ow... I didn't know you could punch so hard!" He joked. I rolled my eyes. When I arrived at my grandma's house I delivered the bread (and some squished donuts). On the walk back to the village we talked like we had been best friends for years. When we got to the front gate He started to walk off.
"Hey!" I grabbed his arm. "That was a lot of fun. I hope we can meet up again."
"Me too." He smiled. "But I know that your village hates the Hybrids."
"Just meet me tomorrow where we first met. I'll find a way we can hang out." I gave him a quick high five.
"You're not that bad Little Red." He punched my arm softly.
"Not too shabby yourself Bad Wolf."
