Ember's P.O.V
"So, how'd you get off?" I said, knowing that the marines hardly let somebody have R&R back to back. "We just finished another mission and had nothing to do that week. I was concerned about you so I asked Master Sergeant if I could come here for a couple of days and he said yeah." Colton said.
"So.... did they replace Julian?" I asked quietly. He huffed out a breathe. "I wouldn't call it replace but ultimately yeah. Her name's Mary Crawford." He said scratching his neck. I didn't even know the girl and I dont like her.
"How's the unit doing?" I asked. "They're worried like I am. What happened?" He asked. "I got into an argument with my dad and I couldn't sit, and I didn't have my crutches. I out to much weight on it and it turned back to jello." I said getting angry.
"It's okay, if it healed once, it'll heal again." He said rubbing my shoulder.
*A month later.
The doctors took my cast of and wrapped it up. "Stay on your crutches, no matter what, for at least 2 weeks. Then you can start physical therapy." The nurse said to me. I didn't go to the same hospital that my mom worked at. I actually went out of my way to avoid it.
*
I started to walk again. It has been 2 months after the hospital. I can lightly jog. I think I can get reviewed again. I went to the hospital to get a physical.-
I walked out with a smile on my face, papers in hand. My physical saying I could go back into service.cwhere I can kill every last one of those cowards that killed my brother. The jealous idiots. The anti-Christians. I never really got that.
They want to kill people who don't do what they believe in. Stupid, really.I took the bus back to the hotel. I walked to the front desk and looked a Justin. His bruise is almost gone from where Colton punched him in the jaw. "Hey, Justin. I just wanted to say thanks for all you have done for me over the past two months." I said..
"Oh, no problem. Why are you all of a sudden saying this?" He asked. I waved the papers in my hand. "I can go back!" I said happily with a smile on my face. His face did the contrary. "Oh.." He said sadly.
"I mean, that's great and all." He said. I got the feel that he got a little too attached to me. For the past month, I've seen something other than friendship in his eyes, he likes me more than a friend. Might as well let him down easy.
"Listen, before there was a country, there had to be people devoted to protect that country. I'm one of those people. Believe it or not, I'm actually doing this for people like you." I said and he gave me a fake smile. "I wish you the best of luck, Ember." He said and I walked to my room to change into my cami's.
It feels nice to be back into these again. I laced up my boots and grabbed my pack. I put on my hat and left the room. I stopped by the office one more time to say bye. "Bye, Ember. I'll never forget you." Was the last thing he said to me.
Next stop, on a plane to Pakistan.
