Today is your boyfriend Theo's birthday. You want to surprise him for when he gets home from work. All he's been doing lately is going to work early and coming home late because he's filming a new movie.
You start to bake a chocolate cake for him because that's his favorite flavor. Right as you start to pour the batter into the pan, you get a facetime request from Theo.
"Hey babe, how are you?" Theo says after to pick up.
"I'm okay I guess. Happy birthday!"
"Thanks y/n."
"What time are you coming home?"
"Oh yeah see one problem, I'm not going to be home until late tonight because we have to reshoot this one scene. Sorry y/n." Theo said making a dissapointed face.
"Oh um, that's okay. Love you." You say as you hang up.
"Y/n wait-" but you already hung up.
Now you start to feel like complete shit. You've been working so hard all day and now he won't even be home to celebrate his own birthday.
You still decorate the rest of the house with ribbons and balloons. On your dining room table, you set down the cake and place his presents on the table. You got him a jaeger-lecoultre watch which was pretty damn expensive and you spent hours trying to find a boutique near you. You also bought him some cologne and 3 new flannels.
The time now what 9:45 pm. Theo should be home in about an hour. However, you are feeling very tired, so you decids to go to bed.
You walk upstairs and plop onto the bed. Instantly, you fall asleep.

You wake up to someone shaking you awake. It's Theo. You look at the time: 11:58.
"Hey sorry I'm home so late. I saw the dining room and it looked quite lovely. I didn't eat the cake or open the presents because I didn't want to do it without you."
"Oh theo, youre so sweet. But I'm really tired. It's almost midnight."
"Ugh, come on grandma..."
"Theo-"
Theo cuts you off by kissing you. You break away and start to smile.
"I'm awake now," you say with a cheesy smile.
You both wall downstairs into the dining room and sit down. You start to cut the cake while Theo opens his presents. He opens the watch first.
"Y/n, where did you get this? These are super expensive. You didn't have to get one for me."
"Too late. You know you love it."
"Well of course I do I have great taste. I mean, you're my girlfriend."
"Shut up," you say with a goofy smile.
You pass Theo a piece of cake while he opens his other presents.
"Wow y/n, you went all out this year. I love everything you got me. But you know what I love more?"
You sigh jokingly,"what theo?"
"You," he says with a wide smile on his face.
"Shut up you goof ball," you, say picking up a piece of cake and smashing it into Theo's face.
"Ugh what was that for," theo says laughing."
You shrug.
Theo, then, picks up a chunk of cake and does the same to you.
You both sit there laughing while sitting there on the floor.
"Thank you for the best birthday ever," theo says, "I love you."
"I love you more," you say.
You start making out on the floor,still convered in cake.
