Chapter 3: The Voices
Logan woke up with a headache and the sight of a bright light in his face, but it wasn't a light, it was a cloud and he and his mother were falling, but slowly.
"Mom, where are we?" asked Logan dazed and confused.
"We're about 5,000 feet over the Berlin cathedral," replied Jane.
He looked up to see a colorful parachute hanging about 10 feet above his mom. She had jumped out of the plane with him. They were falling at about five feet per second, yet they were still making progress toward the ground. After about 17 minutes they reached the ground. Their hotel was 7.1 miles from the airport so they had to leave fast.
Dazed in confusion, Logan and Jane walked for what seemed like hours, they hailed a cab and rode the last 6 miles to the hotel. Arriving at the hotel at 6:29 p.m. they checked in and dropped their stuff on the floor; or at least what was left from the plane. Just as the sun was about to set, Jane was recalling that the authorities could track when she used her credit card to buy stuff. SNAP! She broke her credit card in half. Afterwards though she thought it would have been smarter to get the money from it first. Depressed and frustrated, she slipped into the cheap hotel bed and tried to sleep like Logan was. Logan... Logan... Logan... I'm coming for you... sweet dreams Logan..., at this point Logan was awake and listening to the threatening remarks coming from the eerie walls of their hotel room.
"Leave me alone," whispered Logan so he didn't awake his mother. No... the voice jolted back. It was at this point that Logan was scared that the voice could actually hear him. Suddenly the body that possessed the voice emerged into view. The ratty leather shirt he wore danced in the wind as a gentle breeze flowed through the room. "This used to be my hotel room, then my family left me here," the voice remarked in a sad tone. When he wasn't whispering he sounded like a naggy old lady with 17 cats. The window opened and a sudden gust of wind from the outside world came rushing in, knocking Logan down. In an in a split second, he thought the mysterious voice was after him, he thought about leaving, but he didn't want to leave his mother behind.
"Logan...Logan...Logan."
Logan grabbed his stuff and bolted out the door, not even hesitating to turn back.
