"I think it's an awesome idea!" Rainbow grinned, she clapped her hands excitedly before taking another sip of her coffee. The friends, apart from Twilight, had been invited to a cafe by Flash so he could ask their opinion of an idea for Twilight.
Sunset nodded in agreement as Fireshot sat down beside her and handed her a warm cup of coca. "I think she'd love it. Especially as it'd bring back so many memories!"
"If you'd like, I could help set it up with you?" Fire quizzed, an eyebrow raised.
Flash mulled over the offer in his mind before agreeing, glad of the extra help. He wasn't at all surprised when the other friends decided to chip in also.
"I'd love to design the setting for you. I may specialise in clothes, but I have a great eye for this sort of thing." Rarity was one of the most excited, she really wanted to create something Twilight would love.
"Just one final thing..." Flash announced.
"Which is?" Apple Jack pondered over the different possibilities until she hit a blank.
"The ring." Flash finished his sentence, as he ran his fingers through his hair.
Pinkie squealed. "Oooh! I wanna see!"
Flash chuckled before fiddling in his pocket, and pulling out a petite, black, velvet box. Carefully opening it, he showcased what was inside, presenting it to each friend, one by one. The ring was small and silver with an small complex twist on the front covered in a collection of tiny diamonds.
"Oooh, sparkly!" Pinkie gasped in awe whilst the others made comments on its beauty.
"It's gorgeous Flash, where did you find it?" Fluttershy's soft voice was the last to be heard.
"There was this really nice jewellery shop in town. They specialise in rings, I saw this one and I knew she'd love it."
Sunset beamed, admiring the ring. "She really will..."
As the friends finished their discussion, and planned out their best options, dusk began to fall.
"I better hurry home." Flash announced suddenly, glancing out the window. "I can't have Twilight becoming suspicious. It has to be a complete surprise. So no telling." He paused. "And yes, I'm looking at you Pinkie."
She giggled a little before raising an eyebrow. "Whaaat?"
Time went on, life continuing as normal. Or, as normal as Flash could make it seem. Twilight would spend her days with her friends, with her books, or simply whatever she would feel like on the day whereas Flash would seize any opportunity to finish the set up for the proposal. They had all planned it weeks prior, but had waited eagerly, and a little impatiently, for a day where they'd be sure for good weather as it had decided to rain for the past week. Finally, a good day was in sight, as well as a good night. All was prepared, Flash simply had to carry out the rest."I was thinking we could eat out tonight." Flash startled Twilight a little as he wrapped his arms around her waist from behind. She had been stood at the counter, a book in hand as she scanned through the pages. She jumped a little before giggling.
"Sorry!" Flash added. "I didn't mean to startle you."
Twilight brushed it off. "Don't worry about it." She smiled, turning to face Flash. "Eat out? That's sounds great. What time?"
"I don't see why now isn't a perfect time." He grinned, a hint of mischief on his face.
Twilight raised an eyebrow before glancing down at herself, her clothes were a little crumpled. "Okay, well I can't go out like this. I need to get ready. I'll be quick!" She began to rush towards her room, glancing back as Flash spoke.
"You're beautiful as you are!" He called out.
Twilight blushed. "Thank you, but I'd still like to look well dressed." She disappeared into the darkness of her room. When Twilight finally emerged, she was met with Flash holding out a bunch of roses towards her.
"Thank you! What's the special occasion?" She asked, her face turning a bright scarlet as she took the roses, taking in their scent before placing them in a nearby vase.
"Can't I treat my wonderful girlfriend?" Flash smirked, purposely placing emphasis on the world wonderful.
Twilight chuckled, rolling her eyes. "Okay, come on Mr Cheese. I'm ready. Where are we going?"
This triggered Flash to grin excitedly. "It's a surprise!" He wrapped one arm around her waist before directing her out of the door. "You'll love it!""Why are we here?" Twilight quizzed, following Flash through the trees, towards the clearing which they used to spend many moons in whilst they were teenagers. They had gotten together in that very clearing, and had even once camped in it under the stars, but it had been a few years since they had last stepped foot in the clearing. It was dark under the moon's light, but as they stepped into the clearing, a bright light suffocated them. A picnic blanket was lay out on the floor with plates, glasses and a basket. Candles had been carefully placed around the clearing. Abruptly stopping, Twilight gasped and brought her hand to her mouth. "It's beautiful..."
Flash smiled. "I knew you'd love it." He took her over the blanket which they sat down on.
Opening the basket beside him, Flash took out a bottle of wine, and began filling up Twilight's, and his own glass. As they drank, and started on their food of chicken, which had been freshly prepared by Pinkie Pie and Apple Jack, they stared up towards the sky. "It's beautiful out here tonight..." Twilight murmured. "Look at all the stars."
Following her gaze, Flash nodded. "It truly is."
Noticing Twilight's distraction he took a small nervous breath, before calling to her. "Twilight..."
She switched her gaze to look at Flash. "Yes?"
"These past years have been amazing." He began. "We've been through our ups and downs, but we always come out on top. I can't think of anyone I would rather have spent these years with. You're gorgeous, funny and outright perfect. You're so different to everyone else, and not just because you're from another world. I love your unique qualities, and I love you, Twilight..." He paused, watching her reactions carefully and closely. "I don't ever want to lose you, and so I have decided that you are the one for me. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, and I hope you feel the same way."
He placed his hand in his pocket, pulling out the velvet black box which he had expertly kept hidden.
Twilight's eyes widened. "Oh..."
"Twilight Sparkle..." He smiled, opening the box, revealing the ring inside. "Will you marry me?"
Twilight nodded without any kind of pause. "Yes!" She threw her arms around him, tears brimming her eyes before pulling away for Flash to place the ring onto her finger.
"I love you!" She burst out through her tears.
As the wind blew gently through the trees, the two lovers spent the remainder of their evening, curled up in each other's arms, admiring the sky, and each other. Twilight stared down at the ring on her finger, knowing it was only the beginning of a long, exciting and happy life.--------------------------------------------------------------------
