Armin had won the challenge with a headband that was simple in construction but was done with two colors and a stitch that Hauser had never taught him, but one that he had come up with based off planning. She commended him for his use of strategic planning and design, and scoffed at Jean's sad attempt at a replica of Mikasa's scarf. Eren had snickered; he had decided to stick with the original soap pouch assignment after all.

The cooking lessons went without issue. Feeling more self-confident, Mikasa got by with her efficient, if not rough, cutting and carving skills. Once she got the difference between a weed and an herb, Mikasa would at least be able to keep from starving in the wild.

Then came the exam.

Which she actually passed.

"It's quite unusual to see you complimented on something that Eren tends to be commended for," Armin said, chuckling.

Mikasa's report had "Skills weak at first, but determination to succeed kept your head above water" written in red ink on the comment section.

"Do you think I'll be of use to him?" Mikasa asked quietly.

"Well..."

They looked over at Eren, who was comparing reports with other boys.

"Wow, Eren, those are nearly as high as some of the girls' marks!"

"Eh, well...I wasn't really trying, thought." Eren shrugged. "I get the practicality of it, but in the end, a knitting needle can't kill a titan!"
