Slowly, Kanan walked over to the shelf that he knew led to the staircase down to the library. Well, the staircase to the path to the library. He placed his hand on the shelf, hesitating before pushing it open. As they watched, a staircase folded out of seemingly nowhere.
"Woah," Ezra whispered. "How did that-"
"This is not a normal library, Ezra," Kanan said.
"Yeah. I, uh, I got that," Ezra replied, still astonished by the moving staircase.
The pair continued and made their way down the stairs. When they reached the bottom, the shelf closed, leaving them in darkness. A wind blew through the tunnel they were in, and suddenly, lights appeared. Candles on the walls lit themselves.
"Did the force do that?" Ezra questioned, trying to find an explanation.
"Yes," Kanan said. "When I first came here, I thought it was magic, but now that I am stronger in the force, I sense how great of a presence it has here."
The two continued down the now lit hallway. Everything looked just as Kanan remembered it. He noticed his young padawan walking a little closer to him.
"It's alright, Ezra," Kanan tried to soothe. "The Imperials ought to be long gone by now."
"It's not the Imperials that I'm worried about," Ezra answered quietly.
Kanan glanced at the boy, only a year younger than he had been when he had first come to the library. He had every reason to be concerned. The enchanted library was both beautiful and dangerous. Anyone could feel it.

They seemed to have been walking for hours, on and on, until, finally, they reached a large set of oak double doors. They were magnificent, elegantly carved wood. But, there were no handles on the doors.
"So, how do we get in?" Ezra asked skeptically.
"You're a jedi padawan," Kanan answered. "How do you think we get in?"
"Oh, right," Ezra said sheepishly.
Kanan closed his eyes, putting his right hand out in front of him, palm outstretched, and his padawan copied him, down to the slight downward tilt of the chin. As they focused all their concentration on the doors, they slowly began to open.
Inside, the library was ravished. Scrolls lay strewn across the floor and the three tables. There were burn marks from sabers and blasters on the walls and along bookshelves. A battle had taken place. Around the man and boy, quills moved busily, writing events as they happened. These scrolls would later be put on the shelves, taking the place of the mess no one had picked up; the mess the Empire had made. Ezra stared in amazement.
"So, the library records everything?" he asked.
Kanan gave a slight nod. "Even our presence right now. It still runs, even when no one is around."
"But, I thought Yukianna and Camila ran the library," Ezra replied, confused.
"They were merely the protectors of the library," a strange, young voice answered.
Kanan and Ezra jumped in surprise, but they saw no one else in the library. They stood back to back and drew their sabers. Kanan narrowed his eyes. The voice was familiar... Could it be?
"Your weapons will be of no use here," the voice said as the image of a young, semi-transparent girl materialized in front of Kanan. "Caleb Dume. Or should I say, Kanan Jarrus?"
