In the beginning...When time, space and money were all just milk, naps, and diaper changes.
"Keep going, you're almost there!" William shouted. Admittedly he wasn't ever planning on having a child of his own, but being there alongside his wife, Mandy, was the brightest moment of his life. Minutes later and small, slimy baby was placed into the arms of his strong arms. "Jason James" Mandy smiled. The doctors looked to William, and back to Mandy, who was slightly smiling as she looked at the ceiling.. "Your wife has done well, especially for a first child. William you were also very patient. You two are going to make perfect parents."
Jason's first few days of his life... The moments he'll never remember, but William would never forget.
Time slowed as William just smiled down at the baby. Fine black hairs were slightly visible. He couldn't resist smiling, even though the tiny baby was crying. Terrified of the brand new world he'd just been introduced to. He didn't notice what was going on around him. His wife was still looking straight towards the ceiling. "Mandy, I love you. Thank-you so much for our blessing." He said softly. He didn't get a reply. "Mandy? Are you going to see our baby boy?" Again, no reply.
It was Jason's fault. That's the only logic William could find.
"Mandy?" He asked louder. No reaction. Her chest rose slowly and fell even slower. There was only one doctor left in their cubicle now. He had his nose in a magazine. "Can you do something?!" William pleaded. But all the doctor said was, "Let her sleep, she'll be tired". So he did. He sat down beside her bed and held her hand, praying to a god he didn't believe in. "Please, God, watch over my wife tonight and cradle her in your arms. Help her through the night and I'll owe you everything."
