A Friend, And A Fear

As I made a bracelet for myself, I noticed Aiden hadn't smiled, or even changed his face at all as we had spoken... It was a little concerning.

He went back to looking at his odd sword... I felt like we could get along if we talked- well... Communicated? Communicated more. The people on the porch hadn't noticed the kids in their lawn... I could see a guy with scaled skin, blue reptilian eyes, and a purple cloak glance at us, but he hadn't done anything. I don't think they really cared, after all, who would care about two kids.

I looked back over at Aiden, he was wearing clothing that looked like something a peasant would wear, a tan shirt that laced in the front, and brown pants with patches and stains on them. It was odd, he held himself tall, perfect posture, and an unreadable mask of a face.

I slipped the bracelet on and sighed, trying to figure out what to do. I glanced at Aiden again, it's not that his face was blank, now that I think of it he looked sad, well, like a sad person trying to hide it.

"Why is it this town has so many kids that just run around?" The scaled man I'd seen earlier said, causing me to turn towards him. It seemed to be rhetorical so I didn't bother to respond.
