Everything dies. You, me, animals, everything. There is now way around it. So what is the point? What is the point of living?! Is that the only reason to live is to stop? That is REDICULOUS! My grandfather was 73. He gave me a journal about three years ago and I have finally picked it up today for him. Last night on July 10th 2013 my Pop died. His cancer got so bad that he could not breath. As he heaved his final breaths he held my hand. His eyes were always on me, he never slept, a smile on his face the whole time and tears in his eyes
"Sleep Pop" I whimpered through a stream of tears. But he could not speak. He just shook his head and smiled.
At 10:08 he whispered, "pumpkin, tell me a story."
"Addy," a voice came from the hallway. "Are you up yet?"
"Yes," Addy sniffled back.
"Are you hungry sweetie?" her mother asked in a gental voice. Addy loved when her mother talked that way. It made her feel warm and loved.
"Mom"
"yes darling" she said now standing in the doorway.
"It's Friday"
"I know"
"Can I go to the beach"
"Well.. if that's what you want its ok with me"
Addy slowly arose from her sheets that were piled on her like a mountain. She went into her bathroom to freshen up. Mounts of boxes sat in the corner by the shower that still needed unpacked. She rummaged through a few small boxes and found her facial and hair supplies and got to work. They hadn't been in their new house a whole day before pop was life lined to the hospital. Addy was finishing her hair when her mother came in.
"I brought you some cloths," her mother said handing her a swimsuit and a cover. when she was ready Addy headed out into the cool California morning. Addy was alone, finally alone. She took out her journal and read her first entry through and then the whole world became more realistic. it was no longer a dream but real life to her.
"Pop is gone"she whimpered as a slow tear left her cheek. She said it over and over again. Her only and best friend was gone. Addy was so flustered. she tore out the entry and through it into the mist around her. wither her head on her knees she sat and cried.
"Excuse me miss," a voice came from the fog. "I believe you dropped this." As Addy cautiously looked up she saw a tall, wet boy standing over her.
