The good life

The next day I returned to that soup kitchen and the day after and again. I had become known there and I loved it. I hadn't been to a club or even drank within the past few weeks. I joined a church, go every Sunday and volunteer there. This is where my life starts to change.
It had been a month or two since that night and I was at the church for a Christmas party. I went to get some water and from across the room, I saw her. She had long long brown hair and a smile that lit up the room. I worked up the courage and made my way towards her. And that is how I met my soon to be wife.

A year after I asked her to marry me, it may have been quick but I loved her. The year after we were married and a few months after we were expecting our first child. The months went by so slowly, and when it grew closed we eagerly awaited the birth of our baby boy.

I had a family, and a place in this world and my future was looking bright again, I had fixed things.

Fast forward a few years, our son is now 14. We've had a great life so far but we have started to run into some obstacles. After my father in law died our son fell into a depression. His grandfather meant the world to him and now he felt all alone. The worst was we didn't notice until the day she walked in on him with a belt around his neck.  He would turn out to be ok but this was the night I went back.
