"I think I may be pregnant."
I was too shocked to hear or see his reaction. I thought he'd dump me for sure. Tears were falling fast and quietly now. He looked up slowly.
"Was that from... Kayla's party?" I managed to nod my head once, slowly. He sighed, placing his palm to his forehead.
"Ugh, I should've never gotten drunk! This is all my fault!" He silently yelled at himself. I felt horrible.
"No, babe, it's my fault. I'm the one who may be pregnant, it's my fault. You can go ahead and dump me if you want."
He looked up in shock at me. "What are you kidding? If you are pregnant, I wouldn't leave you even if my life depended on it! You are the best thing that's ever happened to me, Kris, and nothing is taking that away.
And besides, it takes two to make a baby, you know."
He smiled at me. His perfect, beautiful smile. He stood up, and I did too. We were done with our meals. He hugged me tightly, seeming to never want to let go, I didn't either. We hugged for a few minutes, and we payed the check and left.
After I strapped a sleeping Felicity in the car seat carefully and quietly, I hopped in the front seat with Gabe at the wheel. We both leaned over and kissed passionately.
He pulled away, looking confused. I looked up into his eyes. "Umm, Kris? What do you mean by you MAY be pregnant?" I answered back "I wanted you to see the results of the pregnancy test the same time I read it."
He looked at me, I couldn't tell what emotion it would be. We drove by a pharmacy, and he dropped me off. I asked which pregnancy tests would be best, and the pharmacist looked up and said, "oh? And who is it for?" He said, seeming very snobby.
I shifted my weight between my feet. "Umm, it's for my older brother, he's been trying for a baby with his wife for a few months now and I'm picking some up for my sister-in-law." He looked down at me, and told me the brand names.
I looked for them, after getting some sneers from women looking for the same thing, and I looked back and stared at them. Some of them already had slight bumps, as if they need a pregnancy test. I said "Calm down, it's for my brother's wife!" They looked away, murmuring to themselves.
I picked them up, brought them to the checkout desk, payed, and walked out to the car where Felicity was sleeping soundly, and Gabe was waiting anxiously.
I kissed him when we got in the car, and we drove to Lookout Point, a place for lovers. I went into the woods for privacy, and peed on four sticks. I wanted to be sure. I walked back, hovering my hand over the signs, and stepped back into the car.
A few minutes later, I lifted my hand slightly up, just enough to see the first one. My heart sunk. Positive.
Okay, maybe it was just a mistake. Test #2. I began to lose hope. Positive. I couldn't look on any longer.
Gabe offered to do it for me. He took it by the handle, the opposite side where I peed, and gasped. I couldn't look. I was silently crying.
He looked up at me, and said the words that shattered my hopes for a real future.
"Kristina, they're all positive. We're going to be teenage parents."
