It was the day of the Yule Ball and I've been trying to get Fred to notice me, but he didn't. I went into the Great Hall with my short skirt and ravenclaw sweater. I caught all of the guys staring at me, including Fred. I went over to Hermione and sat next to her.
"Mione do you mind if I take your sister to the Yule ball?" Ron asked Hermione making me laugh.
"Knock yourself out." She said.
"Is that because your going with Victor Krum." I said pretending to be proper. I got a laugh out of Ron and Harry.
"Victor Krum is a pleasant person." She said and I laughed.
"I just saw him pick his nose." I said.
"And eat it." I finished and she looked disgusted.
"I-I-I- I don't care." She said and I could tell it bothered her.
"Why do you always do this?!" She asked angrily.
"Do what? Point out the truth?" I said.
"You take a guy I like and you tell me all of their flaws!" She shouted as we stood in the hall.
"Flaws shouldn't matter as long as you love them for who they are and what they did to you... you should still let them love you." I said realizing that I need Fred.
"Bea, I'm sorry that I shouted at you." She said and I hugged her. For once we felt unified again.
"Victor Krum isn't that bad." I said as we walked back into the great hall. I sat at the Gryffindor table next to Hermione across from Harry and Ron.
"So I was saying, Hermione I want your permission to ask your sister to the Yule Ball." Ron exclaimed.
"Fine Ron you can take my sister to the Yule Ball unless she doesn't want to go with you." Mione said and I nodded happily.
"I would love to go with you, Ronald." I stated and he smiled happily.
"Hey Ron?" Fred said.
"What Fred?" Ron asked annoyed.
"I'll trade dates with you." He whispered so I wouldn't hear, but I did.
"No!" Ron yell whispered at him.
"Why not?" Fred asked out loud.
"Because I'm not a prize to be won, Freddie." I said bitterly and he backed off.
"You're nothing like Mione." Ron said smiling.
"I know that, we are two different people you know." I stated and Fred sent me a crooked smile. I sent him a smile back and looked over at Ron. At least they have some similarities. I ate my food in silence. Once I was finished eating I stood up to leave when Cho ran over to me.
"Something happened to her... to Selena." Cho whispered and I tried to hide the fact that I was shocked.
"Where is she?" I whispered back and we ran out of the great hall. We ran to the dungeons and there she was. Crying on the floor. Her sweater was ripped, skirt wrinkled and her stockings had holes in them.
"What happened?!" I asked and she looked over at me.
"Pansy beat me up... because I'm going to the Yule Ball with Draco... I'm sorry I never told you." She said and I knelt by her side.
"All that matters is getting you cleaned up. Cho, take her to Madame Pomfrey, I'm gonna go deal with our wilting flower." I said walking back towards the great hall. I opened the door to see her sitting with her Slytherin buddies. I stood tall and marched over to her. The great hall grew silent as I walked over to her.
"What are you reading, Pansy? Oh right, you can't read." I said and everyone ooed. The Ravenclaw table laughed along with me.
"Shut your mouth mudblood." She hissed.
"I don't listen to people who beat up my best friend." I said and she clenched her fist and faced me. Pansy threw a punch and I caught it. She threw her other hand and I caught that too and put them behind her back.
"You always go for the neck first." I said and let her hit the floor as I walked away. The Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw tables cheered. I sat down next to Hermione and Fred smiled brightly at his plate. It had nothing left on it, which meant that he was smiling because of my bravery.
