My Fake Girlfriend

Chapter 4

Surprisingly, Ares' family likes me a lot. They kept asking me questions and we laughed a lot. I liked his family and it made me miss my family more.

"So your family don't live here?" Lily asked.

"Yes, they all live in New York." I smiled.

"I bet you miss them so much." She held my hand and I nodded.

"I do but my brothers often come here to check on me."

"How many siblings do you have?" Lily asked curiously.

"2 older brothers."

"So Athena, what kind of food do you like to cook?" One of Ares' aunts asked. We're currently sitting at Lily's table so his family were all there.

"I like to cook western food but I can cook other cuisine too."

"We have to go to her restaurant one day." Rache suggested.

"I'll be so happy to serve you guys." I looked at all of them. I turned to see Ares flirting someone. I tried to control myself from rolling my eyes.

"Don't worry about him, she's our family friend. I can tell Ares likes you a lot." Lily said and I wanted to laugh so bad but at the same time, I felt so bad for lying to his family.

"It's okay."

"Do you like books?" Viola asked.

"Yes, I love romance novels."

"No way! Me too! Gosh.. we have to exchange books or maybe you can recommend me some good books." She squealed.

"I will and I would love to lend you my favorite books."

"Oh! How about you tell us how you meet Ares?" Lily asked curiously.

"Well, we were friends in highschool but we didn't interact as much. We met again in reunion and then.. we started to hang out a lot."

"I can see why he likes her.." Rachel said and I smiled nodding. I felt so bad fooling everyone.

"Mother, it's time to cut the cake. Stop interogating the poor girl." Aaron said to Lily. Lily then moved to where her birthday cake is. All the family started to sing for her. Ares walked towards me and he made me sit on his lap.

"What did you guys talk about?" He asked.

"A lot of things."

"Glad that they like you." He smirked and I wanted to slap him so bad.

"Felt bad."

"No need to feel bad, we're going this for the next 6 months. You need to get used to it."

"I'm just your fake girlfriend but they treat me like a real one." I sighed.

"It's fine, relax. They will never know." I grabbed his hand to join Lily. We sang happy birthday yo her and she's so happy.

"Let's take some photos together." Lily said.

"Wait here, okay?" I nodded when Ares left me. His familt gathered in one frame and I took out my phone to take a photo of them.

"Athena, come here." Lily said and I raised my eyebrows.

"Me?"

"Yes, come here join us."

"But.."

"You'll be family soon." She smiled and Ares came to get me. I stood beside him and he slipped his arm around my waist. Viola held my hand and I smiled to the camera.

I'll never be a part of their family, I'm only here for 6 months. I felt bad for fooling people like them. They're the sweetest.

"Thank you for coming, Athena." Lily held my hand.

"You're welcome. Happy birthday once again." I hugged her and she chuckled patting my back.

"I like you a lot. You better not end things with Ares." She winked.

"I have to take her home." Ares said as he held my hand.

"She can't stay? I want to talk to her again." Viola pouted.

"She will help you but for now I want her to myself. You'll see her soon." Ares said and I hugged Lily once again.

"I know you're lying." I froze and I looked at Lily nervously. Lily turned to Ares.

"You want to take her on a date right?"

"How do you know?" Ares asked.

"Of course, your grandfather used the same excuse."

"Goodbye granny, see you soon." Ares hugged her and I smiled nervously.

"Bye, Athena."

"You're going home for real?" Viola asked.

"Yes, I'm sorry."

"It's okay, I'll call you." She said gesturing that she will forsure call me.

"Bye." I said.

"Bye." We walked out and Ares sighed.

"I can't do this."

"Why?"

"I can't lie to your family! They're the sweetest people, I don't want them to hate me. Find someone else! I'll find money to pay the restaurant back!"

"Too late." He looked at me coldly.

"Ares.."

"6 months, Athena. We only nedd 6 months and you'll be done with it."

"Fine." I sighed.

"We can tell them that we broke up in 6 months. They will get over it."

"You know I can't lie to Lily. What if she knows?" I asked curiously.

"She'll get over it."

"Why are you so confident about this?"

"Just be you.. stop worrying." He held my hands and I sighed nodding.

"Get in, I'll take you home." He opened the car door and I got in. He drove me home and none of us talk.

"We're here."

"Thank you." I got out and I turned to him before closing the car door.

Nothing will go easy in the future.
