Ch.7 Fiery getaway
When someone fires a bullet at the main character in a movie time slows and it is usually narrowly missed, all while portraying the protagonist's cat like reflexes. Let me be the first to tell you that even with cat reflexes, this is a bunch of bullshit.
Pain blossoms on the side of my head, stars dance in my vision, blood seeps down my cheeks onto my shoulder and begins to soak my shirt, all this happening in the extent of a couple of seconds. Felix, wait no, Phenir nicked my ear with his shot, missing my head only due to my instinctive movement when being shot at. I lift my hand and gently, but quickly prod the ear in question, it is hanging limply by a small bridge of tissue, but already I can feel the new growth under my fingertips. Meanwhile, Phenir stares at me blankly, stunned by his failure in securing one of my lives. Taking advantage of his confusion, I lunge at him, claws extended. He obviously did not anticipate being tackled because he falls limply to the hard floor of the torture chamber. I bring my hand up to his neck and impale his neck with my sharp claws. Blood instantly spurts from his neck, presumably from a major artery. Satisfied at my sudden upper hand and victory, I stand up and examine him. Let's just say he's not going to be moving for a while. Judging by his gurgling and coughs, I might even have taken one of his lives. I touch my healed but still tender ear and kick his head.
"Payback's a bitch." I hiss. I would stay and wait for him to come back to life but once my kind is reborn our strength and abilities are sharper and much more extensive than normal and I'm not taking any chances. I spit on his face and find my way back to his huge garage.
I decide on one of his less remarkable cars, which is still a Cadillac, in a bad effort to not attract attention once I get back to town. As I begin to drive out, something near the garage's entrance catches my eye. I break out into a devilish grin and enjoy the utter perfectness of my find. I drive the Cadillac out of the garage and partially onto the dirt road. Getting out, I run back to the garage and claim the object of my excitation. I pour the gasoline on all the cars and exit the house to pour it at the base of all the mansion's walls. I then make a small trail of gas to a safe distance of the house. I return to the garage and dump the rest of the fuel on the floor and look for a lighter or match. With my luck, I find a lighter lying around on a work bench near the end of the garage. Grinning, I exit the wretched mansion and approach the trail of gasoline. Once I stand at the end of the trail and at a safe distance of the house, I bend down and light the little gas path. I stare leisurely at the flames licking their way up to the house for half a second before remembering my effort to avoid proximity to the house; I sprint behind a set of bushes and glance leisurely behind the thicket.
"Fshhhhh...kraboom!" My feet are knocked out from behind me as the cars' gas tanks, presumably, explode. My sensitive ears didn't like that one bit. I prop myself up on my elbow and level my eyes with the mansion...or what is left of it. Debris, charred or flaming is strewn across the immense property, resembling a sort of junk graveyard. My eyes fall upon the foundation of the, once huge, establishment. I can't help a diabolical laugh from escapes my lips and soon my body is being racked with laughs. Good luck coming back to life after that, you bastard. He had it coming. You should never underestimate your enemy, especially if that enemy is me.
