My eyes, overloaded with admiration and appreciation, gazed deeply at the person in front of me. She stood tall and long with a great sense of pride. Her shoulders squared and pushed back, her back straight, her head high commanding attention. This woman had an overpowering sensibility of security within herself that was developed over her years of personal experiences, hardships, and struggles while trying to discover who she really was as a human being. This woman was unbelievably, undeniably, extraordinarily beautiful on the inside just as much as she was on the outside for the great stories and lessons she's inherited from her life as well as looking forward for the ones that lie ahead of her. As perfect as this incredible creature seemed to be, she knew she wasn't always this way. It took her quite a long period of time, faith, and patience to mature into the woman she is today.

The woman she's always wanted to be.

Her heart flooded with love for the people that filled her life with joyous moments and balanced out her times of downfall and fear. Her spirit swollen with gratitude of what she's overcome. Her skin basked in a heavenly glisten from the inner glow that shone day in and day out, displaying old battle scars from her past that she was no longer ashamed to reveal to the world for everyone to see. Her eyes proud of everything that's happened to her, the good and the bad.

Tears of relieved happiness flowed freely from her eyes still unable to wrap her head around the fact that she was finally the person she only dreamed of being, if not more. Her eyes locked with mine and we smiled, reaching out for one another just to see if the other was real. Our hands touched, connecting through the glass of the oval framed mirror. This woman was a hero, a historical figure in our eyes.

This woman was, is, me
