baek aera sat quietly on the stairwell leading up into the apartment above the café, reading a book thoughtfully. she was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her boss's son, who would become her new housemate.

her boss was somewhat of a mother to her and baek aera was a daughter to her boss, she had taken her in a year after the start of her job and given her shelter. just about a week earlier, baek aera's boss had revealed the existence of her son and announced that he would be moving in shortly.

aera could only feel nervous. chewing on her bottom lip as she flipped the page of the book she really wasn't paying any attention to, all that she could think about was meeting this stranger. would he become a friend? a brother? or even leave it at acquaintance?

aera's heartbeat picked up whenever she heard the faint ring of the bell attached to the café door.

"aera!" she heard her boss call from behind the counter.

baek aera was quick to mark her page, setting the book down on one of the steps and rushing to her boss's aid.

"miss im?" aera asked, pushing stray strands of dark hair out of her eyes.

"miss im? what happened to mom?" aera's boss rose her eyebrows.

"i didn't want to offend your son," she explained in a soft tone of voice, looking to her shoes bashfully, which were definitely due to be thrown out.

"don't worry about offending jaebum," miss im waved her hand lazily, dismissing the thought.

"alright, sorry" aera apologized hesitantly. "what did you need?"

miss im looked confused for a moment, as if she had forgotten she'd been calling for aera at all, before realization crept across her face and she pulled a notebook out from the drawer behind her and handing aera a piece of paper. aera took it gingerly, scanning its contents.

"stage name? group name? music genre?" aera asked skeptically. "what does this stuff mean?"

"keep reading," miss im nodded curtly.

"baek aera, i can answer only one of those questions," miss im sighed. "im jaebum is my son."
