reduced

I try to write about you

but I lack words and expressions

I lack ink and courage

because putting you into a paper would be selfish of me

because you're a galaxy

no, you've got a galaxy growing inside you

you've got constellations rolling around in your eyes

and reducing that to a simple piece of paper

is like reducing the whole world to a grain of sand

and expecting it to keep its greatness,

it won't.

No matter what I write

your greatness will never really show

your mind, your thoughts, your voice, your smile

your soul and body and the way they connect

will never reduce to a piece of paper, no matter how hard I try.

So in this piece of paper I put my thoughts

about the way you throw your head back when you laugh

about the way your voice fails when you're excited

about the way your eyes sparkle when you're happy,

because my thoughts can be reduced to this

not because they're just thoughts,

they're not

they're desires and wishes and love

but because someone out there

must share the same thoughts as me

but no one out there

shares the same greatness as you.

So let my thoughts be paper

and let you be you
