A/N Sarsha above- i picture her as a young Bethany Joy Lenz from One Tree Hill!
----"Ew. I stankkkkkk." Said Sarsha, it was 30 degrees outside, and this tin-shed-gym was acting like an oven. That combined with running 5 continuous laps was enough to make even the model-like players look (and smell) sweaty and gross. I was regretting the decision to wear a cotton t-shirt, everyone else was smart enough to wear a tank or singlet.
"Ugh, same." I agreed with her, "And we've barely even started trialling."
-----
We were lining up to take shots at goal, just as the boys were having a drink break. Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted Harry. He was watching me, just as I was preparing to shoot. I felt my stomach leap- no pressure Saides, I tried to assure myself. Don't be a noob. Connect stick with ball and push it into corner of the goal, passed the goalie, it was simple. But of course, my luck was absolutely lamentable. I flung the ball, right up over the goals, almost hitting a spectating woman on the head. All the boys began to laugh.
"Nice one Saides!" I heard Josh yell. My cheeks flushed vividly.
I braved my embarrassment and briefly gazed over my shoulder. Harry sat, now with a shirt on- sadly, intently watching. He ran he hand over his head, through his shoulder length, wavy hair. Any hopes of the gorgeous boy not thinking I was a total loser had rapidly disappeared.
I paced back over to Sarsha.
"Goals! Am I right?" I said, attempting to make light of my embarrassment."Hahah..?" Sarsha replied, looking at me quizzically.
"You know, goals as in future plans/ the things that you're aiming for in life, and also as in the metal structure that I was trying to get the ball in." I began rambling, trying to dig myself out of the 5 meter rut of embarrassment.
"Oh, hahah. Of course!" Sarsha chuckled uncomfortably, either trying to make me feel less awkward or stop me from talking.
Out of the corner of my eyes, I caught him watching us again. Drink bottle in hand, he sat on the benches, looking thoughtful and perplexed. He was surrounded by a bunch of other sweaty guys, including my stupid twin brother.
One of the few dark haired girls of the group had successfully scored a goal - it passed the goalie and in landed the goal net- and all the boys began to woop. Harry being the loudest of them all. The quiet, subdued and thoughtful boy that I had seen for a brief minute was quickly replaced by the guffawing and overconfident Harry from earlier.
--------
During our drink break, I checked my phone. 1 text message from Niall! The text on my lock screen read:
----
Niall: how are the trials going?
----
Niall Horan had just texted me first, not asking for anything, just checking up on ME! I fan- girled as though he was in a world-famous boy band, not just my mega cute crush.Slightly ashamed of my out break of excitement, I unlocked my phone and read the message.
----
Niall: how are the trials going?
have you told the coach about me yet?? don't mean to be rude, but just want to mkae sure he knows ! thxxxxx
----
Of course. I was too quick to get excited, as if popular-jock Niall Horan could give a damn about a noob like me. I sighed, shoving my phone back into my bright purple hockey bag, I began to gulp down some water.I turned the watch the boys, they were playing mini game. The ball bumped over the side board, and Harry came galloping over to retrieve it, his flowing main secured in a low bun once again. Damn, he was gorgeous. The ball landed at the base of my bag, and I leant down to grab it. As I stood up, Harry was only centimetres away from my face. His beautiful green eyes pierced mine, his dimples and pearly teeth were prominent as he smiled at me. He gazed down at my lips, smiling seductively at me again.
