(Unknown POV)
A day came that was of great importance in the tradition of my people. It was said that when the heir to the throne was to hold the silver crystal that it would shine with light of the their future. After centuries it be came a tradition for the heir to be bestowed the crystal on the sixth anniversary of their birth.
I was both nervous and excited for the opportunity to make my mother proud. As we walked to the center of the palace she told the story of her experience when her time came as well as the stories of all the past queens.
We arrived as a silence took over us. I was led to the center of a large ballroom with high ceilings and slick shiny floors. I can remember the clicks of mine and my mother's shoes. We were surrounded by the elders and each of the families that had protected the crown for as long as our history has been in words.
I gripped tighter to my mother's hand as we were standing in the very center of the room.
All the onlookers starred at me with expectancy. Mother loosened he grip and stepped away from me. I looked at her frantic suddenly very afraid to be alone. She gave me a warm reassuring smile before walking up to a man who was half her height.
The man was old and had a white hair and deep dark bluey green eyes which was quite rare in my kingdom. The norm consisted of light hair and light colored eyes in many verity of colors. I smiled softly at how his withered face crinkled slightly as he smiles. His warm inviting eyes fell on me as he gave a nod.
Mother stepped to the side and turned to me a the sage took steps towards me. In his wrinkled hands I saw a crimson colored chest that had swirls of gold and Safire gems covering it. I held my breath as he stood before me. He was maybe two or three inches taller than me.
"Do not fret child." I looked up at the man and couldn't help but smile at the mischievous look in his warm eyes. "You are a strong one. I see a future of great significance in you. You shall be a protecter." I looked at him for a long moment as many different emotions danced within me. First was pride, followed by confusion, then worry, and as a sent a glance to my mother I saw her puffed out with pride I tried to stifle a giggle at her appearance.
I looked back at the man as he moved the chest towards me. I gave a corse not as the atmosphere changed deadly serious. With an understanding nod he opened the chest and I was greeted by a small crystal that would easily fit in the palm of my hand. The silver orb sat softly on a pillow of blue silk.
I looked up at the sage and he gave me a look. I took a breath and reached out my hand...
