The One Who Must Risk It All

Chapter Two: Finding Out

*Kathy*

Today I have this major test in geomatry that counts as half my grade. It was a good thing I studied last night. The only thing wrong is that I get super nervous before a test and I can feel the notes leaving my memory.

"Hey babe"
That is my boyfriend Mark. He has these beautiful silver-green eyes and light brown, wavy hair.

"Hey :)" I say
Before i have time to react he grabs my waist and starts kissing me. Instanly, I return the kiss.

"If you guys continue making out, I think I'm gonna puke"

We all laughed. That was our friend Jake, but every one calls him Moose. Whenever he laughs it always comes out as a moose call.

"Well if you don't like it go somewhere else" I said

"Awww...... come on, you guys love it when I interrupted very single time you guys start kissing" Moores says sarcastically.

"No. We don't like it". Mark says glaring back at Moose.

Everybody knows that Moose and Mark get into arguments wasily , but they would never get into a physical fight. They're just to good of friends.

~BBRRIINNGG~
That's the bell and every one rushes to class. Before we know it we're the only ones left in the hallway. It cleared out faster than that cafeteria on mystery meat Monday. This is because we just got a new principle who strolls the school floors and punishes any one who is in the hallway after the bell rings without a valid excuse or hallpass.

Me, Mark, and Moose all hurry to class. We make it as soon as the teacher is about to close the door. He stares at us with a dissaproving nod, but is nice enough not to mark us late.

~End of day~
"Ugh. Today was a drag. I nearly fell asleep in all of my classes" Moose complains.

I nod in agreement. "Mrs. Limben's speech about "the oil leak in Newhampshire" was so boring. I still don't get the fact why we have to learn about that if we live in Californa"

"We learned about it to know what to do in case it happened here" Mark was a straight A student, so we weren't superseded when he answered my question. The thing was that I barely heard anything since I was distracted.

"Uh... Kathy? Snap out of it. *knock* Earth to Kathy"

Mark was trying to get my attention but I was wondering about my sister. She looked suspicious, went into the dark alley behind the school then came back out with a knife that she slipped into her bag disecretly.

*Snap*

"Huh? What happened?

"You went into dreamland. Are you okay?"

"Yeah.....j-just a little bit shaken up. (Long pause) :) Let's just go home"

~At home~
I waved good bye to Mark and Moose as that headed the other way. I still couldn't get the image out of my mind. This was all crazy and I hoped I was just hallucinating the whole thing.

I called out to my mom but of course she wasn't here. She was at the hospital.

I went up to my room and sat at the edge of my bed. I could hear the sound of running water coming from the bathroom.

"Candy? Are you in there?"

"Yeah. I'll be out in a few minutes or so."

"Okay"
Knowing I only had a few minutes before she came out. With all my courage I went across the room and began searching in Candy's bag. Luckily I found no knife and I sighed with relief. While on the bed I saw something glint from Candy's dresser. Knowing it can't be anything bad I went over. I pulled out the drawer and immediately regretted it. The smile on my face and the relief in my heart quickly faded away. There in the corner layed the knife I thought I had hallucinated. Before I had time to gather my thoughts the bathroom water turned off and I heard Candy come out of the shower. I quickly closed the drawer, jumped on my bed and pretended to read a book. Candy stepped into the room.

"Hey Candy.......wassup?"

She gave me a curious/suspcious look. I wondered why until I heard my voice. It sounded as a mixture of mixed emotions. Scared, confused and uncertain.

He's in talk she responded. "Nothing you?"

"Nope, nada, zip. Uh..... just reading a book".

"Okay"

We stated at each other for a while then eventually went into our homework.

*Ring*
"Hello?...........Okay........Uhuh..........Yeah, I'll be right there"

Candy started making her way to the door and I stopped her before she ever reached it.

"What happened? Where are you going?"

Candy was talking really fast so it was hard to make out what she was saying.

"Ugh (long sigh) Jamie.......best friend.......mother........hospital.....me.......babysitting........her........baby brother. Bye gotta go now. I.....come back late..........make dinner........tell mom."

With that she was gone and out the door.

I remembered how before I wanted to look in her diary so bad but I was to scared? Well this was my chance. Reluctantly I went to Candy's side of the ROM and grappled her diary from the secret place she keeps it in. She doesn't even know that I know where she keeps it. I jumped on my bed, played back and started reading the diary. I COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT I WAS READING.
