Kamini paused looking into the crystal clear lake below the pine tree and wiped her brow feeling the sweat and grime on the rest of her body without having to look at her reflection.
She longed to drop everything she was doing in that moment to jump into the cool blue lake. If she had it would of been an quick end to her twenty-four year old life.
She had just got done fighting squirrels that decided to throw nuts at the Black Bear Den and pissing one of the bears residing there off. It was her job to check that all the animals residing had the best life the park could offer. The squirrels were making her job extremely difficult do far.
Kami had chased the rude squirrels into one of the tallest tree in the park her dilemma now was how to get down without ending up a broken mess on the forest floor. She could feel her heart pounding as she slowly climbed down the tree.
She let the air she had been holding in out, walking back to the ranger quarters locker room a few miles away and proceded to change into a pair of skinny jeans with rips on the knees and a loose gray shirt.
Kamini sits down on on one of the benches in the girls locker room and laces her tan boots.
She grabs a rag from a rack, wetting it in the sink with cold water. Squeezing water out of it till the rag is only damp, she scrubs dirt off the skin she can access, thinking of a nice steamy bath in one of the natural hot springs.
Looking into the mirror she groans softly pressing down gently on the bruise in the center of her forehead left from a nut one of the squirrel threw.
"Hmm, I wonder why the squirrels were so agrivated today usually they don't bother the bears." Kamini asked herself rolling her light green eyes.
She smiles in amusement remembering how silly some of the animals are on the reservation, running her hands though her brown hair.
She smiles ready to get home so she can take a bath and start baking some blueberry muffins.
