~a year later~
shifter!deans pov
They had finally caught up with Cas. When they found him, he still looked the same as he did a year ago. In fact, Dean still looked the same. Sam had not noticed.
They found cas wandering the street alone at night. It was hard to say what made him recognizable. It may have been the angelic glow he emitted that only monsters can see.
Monsters
When had he started referring to himself in that way?
The thought made him scowl.
They cornered cas in an alley. For a good minute, the three of them just stared at each other. Well, Sam and Dean stared at cas. Cas stared at Dean.
Some sort of.. shiver crawled up the posers spine. He couldn't help but question if Cas knew his identity.
Finally, Cas spoke first. When he did, he looked at Sam.
"Why are you here? I thought I was a danger to you."
"That.." Sam started, "is a long story."

The archangel Michaels pov
Michael paced the garden.
Heavenly peace.
Mortals could be thick sometimes.
He looked over the 'edge' of the garden at the humans. He looked at the winchesters.
Sam distrusts Cas, which was good, considering that it's almost time to kill them. But Dean.. He didn't know what to make of him. His angels were on alert for them now.
"Better then reality tv." A new voice joined his thoughts.
"Brother. I didn't think you'd come." Michael said, not turning around.
The fallen angel laughed bitterly. "What do you want, Michael?"
Michael turned to lucifer.
"You know what it is I want. I want to go back to a time where people weren't evil, were monsters didn't threaten the future of humanity. I want peace on heaven. I want a father that's actually present."
Lucifer looked amused.
"From me. What do you want from me?"
"Your help-"
"You mean, after I was banished because I simply loved our father too much? After you watched as I was prosecuted because I wouldn't bow to those evil creatures? You want me to help?"
Michael met the accusations with his head held high. "Yes." He said, simply.
"What's in it for me?"
Michael didn't hesitate when he said "you'll be brought back to heaven."
Again, Lucifer laughed bitterly. "With open arms? And a cake? There must at least be a welcome home party."
Michaels face turned impatient. "Brother-"
Lucifer held up a hand. "Tell me, Michael. How would father react? Does he know of your undermining? Tell me, why he didn't banish you like me? Actually, tell me how I'm here right now."
Now the archangels voice faltered. "Because I let you."
And now, lucifer laughed for real. "You..? You let me?" Nothing about his laugh was funny. "That's rich. Why would dad let you?"
"Dad isn't here." Michael gritted, saying the words he knew Lucifer was waiting to hear.
Lucifer indeed smiled wickedly. "And what changed my little brothers opinion of humans?"
The archangel glowered at him. "They're evil. We were His first creations. We praise Him till we're blue in the face but he still has undying love for them? He abandoned us! He-"
Lucifer held up a hand. "And what would you want me to do?" He asked. "Kill more humans? Kill my demons?"
"I have something better planned." Michael said, with a smile that might make people question if he was the good guy. "Can I count on your help?" He asked, extending a hand.
Lucifer thought for a minute then clasped his brothers hand. "For a while, yes."

Dean's pov
It didn't take him long to realize his captors weren't human. Nor were they vampires, or shapeshifters. He didn't know what they were yet. He didn't expect to live long enough to ask them.
A man walked into his cell one day. A man he's never seen before. Not his usual torturer. He crouched down besides Dean and lifted his chin to look in his face.
"Well, aren't you a sight for sore eyes." The man chuckled. "Do you know who I am?" He asked. Dean shook his head.
"I imagine you're about to tell me." His voice cracked and broke.
"You're right, I am. I'm the Angel lucifer." the man said.
"Wasn't lucifer the devil?" Dean grumbled, staring him down.
"Once upon a time, I was an angel. And you're going to help me get my place back." He said, his voice low and dangerous.
"I don't think I will." He grumbled.
"No, but Sam will. To save you, at least. Your darling brother is my vessel after all." He said with a chuckle.
"Sammy wouldn't!" Dean growled, but in his heart he knew he would.
The man only laughed and then stood. He turned and left the way he came. And once again, Dean was left in the darkness.

Shifter!Dean's pov
Sam had gone to sleep. Cas didn't sleep. And neither did Dean. He quickly explained that he drank a lot of caffeine and wasn't tired. So Cas sat on one end of the bed and Dean the other. They stared at each other for about twenty minutes before Dean cleared his throat.
"What have you been up to, Cas?" Dean asked.
Cas cocked his head at Dean. "What do you mean?"
"Nevermind." He said immediately.
They sat in silence again. Dean shook his head and got up. "Are we just going to stay here all night?" He asked.
Cas seemed to be thinking ago it.
"I don't see why not." He finally said.
"The answer was no. We will not."
"And where will we go?"
"Somewhere fun." Dean said with a smirk.
