I'll Play Your Game

I knew one thing for sure, if I was going to play this game, then I was going to WIN this game.

I conjured the black substance from both of my arms, and I continued creating more until I had two long, black whips attached to my very limbs. With these whips I went along violently slaughtering creature after creature.

I was actually enjoying myself in my own twisted way.

Suddenly however, a sharp pain began inching its way up my arms, and I looked down to determine the cause. I watched as the black substance spread steadily further up my arms,  the sharp pain along with it, slowly inching onto my torso and my legs.

I whimpered as it continued to spread, now causing pain to pulse through my entire body, as if the black substance was flowing through my veins. As soon as it had covered my entire body, including my head, I felt the substance grow and multiply until It was many times its original size. I screamed, suddenly seeing red and seething with anger, but my scream emerged from my mouth as an ear splitting roar that shook the ground.

Fascinated by this new power I possessed, I imagined my monstrous form smashing its fist into the ground, hopefully killing monsters in the process.

The impact was insane, but what happened as a result was even more insane. As I slammed my massive fist into the ground, on impact, it shattered, almost like glass, but also completely unlike glass. It sent the living tar substance spewing and splattering onto the students and the monsters that were scattered across the campus.

I felt the black substance melt away from me, first from my head, then from the rest of my body. I was once again able to see, and to breath with human lungs. I Felt more powerful than I ever had before.

I then lifted my hands, I understood what I could do. I was running on auto drive, yet I was still conscious of my actions, as I was forming a variety of complex symbols using my hands. The scattered black substance gathered and melded into an enormous shadowy monster. But the black substance was no longer a liquid, nor was it a solid, but pure shadow.

The beast released a terrifying shriek, but dissolved soon after it was created, for it had no purpose, and I grew weary of using my magic energy to sustain it. Every monster on campus had been brutally destroyed, as well as the three metal warehouses.

I turned around to face the bewildered crowd of students that had gathered to admire my display. Millicent sprinted forward out of the crowd and threw herself on me in a tight embrace. When she pulled away, she said, "that was quite the display." I lifted my hands in an innocent shrug and said, "Well, we won't have to deal with monsters for a couple of days."

But oh how wrong I was.

As it turns out, the "independent combat" portion of school, otherwise known as the "monster bell" was so important to the school that all the students were actually being temporarily relocated to another school on an entirely different island while the warehouses were being rebuilt.

The students would continue their school lives just as they had been for the past few weeks, except their group would be combined with one group from the temporary school.

The general assumption however, was that this temporary location was actually a normal school, for normal kids. The only reason why the not-so-normal students were being integrated with these normal students was because the school had a monster problem. The bloodthirsty creatures had been picking off students from this school every night for years, obviously effecting their learning experience.

I wasn't blamed for the relocation, at least not by my peers. Actually, to my surprise, they were looking forward to getting real-life application of combat skills. As I said, I was surprised by this, but I wasn't going to argue. As long as my new friends were around to defend me in front of staff members, I would be fine right?

I suppose that's not completely true...just mere optimism. Acting like that wasn't going to get me anywhere.

Yes, I was sure there was someone watching us; someone who wanted this to happen. I hadn't told anyone about my theory, no, my knowledge, for fear they wouldn't believe me.
I'm sure Millicent would believe me, but to believe and to be convinced enough to take immediate action are two VERY different things.

I wasn't exactly looking forward to the experiences to come, but I couldn't say the same for Millicent. She was practically bouncing off the walls as we boarded the boat, literally almost stepping on Trey as we passed.

I looked at him sympathetically as I was dragged at light speed to the front of the line and immediately onto the boat. I watched, though not particularly interested, as Millicent literally ran laps around the entire boat. Just watching her was brutally exhausting, and soon enough I found myself dozing off.
