I watch as the raindrops race against my living room window. I had nothing better to do. I turned around to see my mother staring at the fire place, as if she was paralyzed. Her eyes were wide open, there was no hope for me to get her to stop zoning off into space. I look back at the window to see the empty streets, nobody dared to come out of their house. Some didn't even have a house. You see them suffering on streets begging on their knees for money. It was the only hope they had. It made me cry the most when there was a child on the street begging for money. But I could barely see anything through this old and rusty window. It was the only window in the house.
Today was the day where two soldiers would come and tell the wife that their husbands have died. I had all my hopes up. I prayed for him every night. He must be alive I said to
myself again and again. My fingers were crossed. And there was a knock on our door. The rain turned to hail and everything froze. This couldn't be happening I said to myself. It was like everything was over for my life. This wasn't possible I tried my hardest I worked everyday to help pay the bills because, the money my mother got everyday for work was not enough to pay the bills. And me and my mother prayed every night for my father. There was another knock at the door. It was time to snap my mother out of space. " Mother!" I said loudly snapping my fingers."You need to get the door the soldiers are are...." I said struggling to say the last word. "Are are...here" I said pushing myself to say the last word while a tear drop went down my face.
My mother stood up and tried to walk to the door. Struggling because, her legs were too weak. Well... we only ate rice everyday. It was the only thing we had and could afford and maybe some eggs and bread if we were lucky. My mother finally got to the door and swung
the door open. Many tears went down her face. Two soldiers were standing there trying to keep a straight face. "I'm afraid to say but...." Another tear went down me and my mothers
face. My mothers eyes were red. I covered my ears and and hid my face under my favorite pillow.
