The question of why?, looms around this wandering brain of mine. Why did that dagger come out nowhere at me? Nowhere. I weigh my options. Ask her, or ignore it. I lean towards ignore it, but how can I, that's a pretty considerably big deal. I mean, a dagger. She never misses. That means it was on purpose. But why, I mean what did I do wrong? I have never been in her secret room, "secret". I mean, I definitely see her go in there. Who doesn't? She thinks I am just a girl, a weak one, who can't handle it. I can. I've never ignored her or disrespected her. I have never flirted with her annoying boyfriend. I let this wash over my mind, like rocks. Nope. Nothing. Nothing at all, until the craziest, most bonkers, out of this world idea crashes into those rocks: WHAT IF THEY BROKE UP?!?!?!?!?!?! I toss myself out of the blue room, that is mine, and almost run to her room. Her room is completely empty. I race like Lightning McQueen to the training room. I scan as fast as I can. Near the targets for knives is where I expect she will be. But, no. Instead, my brain hops to the next place, I instinctively think she is: the bow and arrows. Nope. I spot the brown-haired, taller boy, with glasses. Josiah. I run up to Josiah, my best friend as soon as I spot him to ask him. "Have you seen Grace?" I whispered, out of breath. "Are you okay?" he asks, not answering my question. "Yeah, have you seen her? I really need to talk to her." I explained to him. "Uhm, yeah. I think she was her earlier. About 8:00 a.m. I think. She was leaving when I was walking in. I thought it was so strange. She never wakes up that early." he replied. "Yeah. I need your help. She threw this dagger at me when she was training, it almost hit me. I felt the air whoosh past me. And for no reason, at that. It was really strange. I was thinking and thinking, and I thought maybe she broke up with Jake, and was taking her anger out on me." I admitted the story, supposed to be a secret. But, he is my best friend and I need help. "Woah. Why the heck did she do that?", he's pretty overprotective of me sometimes. We both are, actually,. "That's crazy! She'd never act like that, unless something was really wrong." he continues, even though I am aware. "Yeah, exactly! That's why I need you. To help me figure out why she threw that dagger." "Okay, yeah, sure. I'm in." he tells me. "Have you checked her social media pages or statuses? Because she is still with him. She took a photo with him like, yesterday." he informs me. "Oh." I check my phone, typing her name into the search bar on Instagram. I find her's and, yep, there it is. I flash the phone at him and he makes an unreadable face. I can't tell. She is hugging him as he has her picked up. A cute picture. I have to give her props for that. Wait a minute is that my favorite necklace. I will have talk to her about that too. I tell Josiah that too. His face is flummoxed. "What's going on?" he questions. "Even I don't know." I answer to him. "Pretty weird." We start to develope a plan. Josiah will distract Jake and then I can talk to her about the necklace and dagger. How, we don't know yet. Jake barely ever looks away, let alone, will leave her. Luckily though, they see each other almost everyday. We decide we shouldn't do it today, but then again, we debate we need the answers sooner. I can't go to Germany not knowing. We debate, him, saying we should wait until tomorrow, me, saying today. Of course, I win. I finally am able to make him realize we don't know for sure, he's coming tomorrow. (Of course, he is.) Josiah "rests his case", we need to go today. FINE! Tomorrow, Jake is going to take Grace on a very romantic date. He will wear a black tux and a bow tie, I bet. And she will wear a cute cocktail dress that cost almost the amount of a small diamond ring, fake pearl earrings, and cute shoes. Gosh, it's like they're going to prom. She did so many missions for that dress too. Real fancy. Well I guess it's okay they are going to a 5-star restaurant then he is taking her somewhere incredibly special. I wonder what he will do. Anyway I should get going, I need to talk to her immediately. Josiah and I head out to find the two of them. We start at the nearby cafe. The walk isn't that far, maybe ten minutes. Josiah scans quickly as we walk in and announces, "Not here." "What do you want to do?" I ask. "Um, maybe we can try the..." he trails off. His attention is snatched away. I look over quickly to see Elijah, my crush!! But Josiah knows, obviously. We don't like each other, so don't start shipping us. Elijah with another girl. I don't care. I don't care. I force myself to think. He never liked you, so it doesn't matter. I continue in my head. Josiah quickly ushers me out, as he thinks I didn't see. He suggests we keep looking. Like, okay. Cause I didn't just see them. But, I force myself to not get upset and sassy with Josiah. I can't get mad too quick. I leave voluntarily, trying hard to not to get upset. I'm pretty sure it worked out okay, I'm not upset. Josiah doesn't mention the thing that just occurred. He knows better. I bet he will bring it up later, he probably doesn't want me to get all atrabilious or dramatic in public. Later, we can gossip, but now, it's time to work.

We spot them after a while. We walked through the automatic doors at the Target. As we walk around we don't see them yet. But, we catch a glimpse at Adalyn, another friend, not as close, but a friend. For us, Josiah and I, it's not everyday we find a friend. Actually, it's close to never. We stick together, the way it has been, the way it will be. She's really just a girl in some of my classes, who I may have talked to a few times. That should mean lots, I don't talk to anyone but Grace, Josiah, and Cora. And, I never talk to Jake. Gracie has tried and tried to get me to talk to him. But, (1) I don't want to. (2) I don't like him. And (3) he's not my: boyfriend; friend; family. Therefore, I don't say much. Unless, I am spoken to. What's awkward is, Josiah gets along with him and they talk, of course, Josiah adds me in. He knows. What a boy! As we see Adalyn, she walks over, probably hopeful to start a conversation. Adalyn asks us why we are here. We tell her we're just browsing. She is one of the most popular girls in the center we stay at. But she isn't all looks, she's amazing at the knives, and that's what she's so known for and popular for. Better than Grace. We go on our separate ways as she finishes her questions. We walk to the movie section, finally where we see them."What are doing here?" I can tell the hint of annoyance in her voice as she asks. "Actually, looking for you," Josiah blurts out, he's the outgoing one. "Yeah-" "Jake, how've you been?" Josiah interrupts as soon as I finish yeah, like, he hadn't noticed him before, looking at some movie. They go back and forth for just about thirty seconds, not nearly as long as I need, before Jake, of course, brings Grace into this. Just when we had that second of hope for plan to work. What a surprise! I think, sarcastically. Well, I guess you can add that to the List of Reasons Why.
