"Aw come on, dude."
A young man, age 15, softly said to the baby he was carrying. "You were so behaved when we left.." The young man sighed and blew some strands of hair from his face as the baby boy cried.
The rain was pouring hard on the sidewalk, making the man hold his umbrella tighter. "Shh..shh.." He shushed the baby, "Please stop crying.."
He continued to shush the baby softly until the baby quieted down. The young man sighed in relief and looked around. He stopped in his tracks as he spotted a tall navy blue apartment with a sign that says:
Foster Serket
owned by
Aranea Serket and Vriska Serket
contact us: 413-31444"Shit.." He muttered under his breathe. He checked his watch, it read 10:03 pm. He looked both ways before crossing the street, to the foster home. He stopped at the front and sat on the steps, holding the baby against him.
He doesn't want to do this, he doesn't want to leave his baby, he doesn't want to leave him with some strangers he doesn't know. He doesn't want to leave him alone with no family with him.
The man scowled as he felt tears forming in his eyes, he brought his hand up to his face and covered his eyes.
He doesn't want to.
But he has to.The man stood up and climbed up two more steps and walked to the front door. He took a deep breathe and placed the baby in front of the door. He placed a note, and a pair of triangular shades, on top of the blanket the baby was wrapped in and pressed the doorbell.
He looked down at the baby and noticed that it was looking at him. He felt his gut explode, he has to do this. He pressed the doorbell again and began to turn away.
The baby started to cry as it noticed the man turn away.
The man resisted the urge to look at the baby, so he descended the steps and ran down the sidewalk. He tightened his grip on his umbrella as he heard the baby's cry got louder. He ran faster and faster while muttering
"I'm sorry Dirk."
