The year was 1923....
"Italien, training is over for today." Germany belowed, his voice was deep and loud; but it sounded like heaven to Italy.
"Ve ~ Grazie Germania!" Italy said, his Italian accent always brought butterflies to his stomach.
"J-Ja , w-well, u-uhm, you better go Italien, Romano will be wondering where you are. You don't want to worry him!" Germany stuttered, heat rising to his face.
"Si! Grazie again Germania, here's your goodbye hug!" Italy told the German before hugging him and planting a kiss on his cheek. The German was always baffled by Italy's outright kindness and affection. Why was Feliciano (Italy) being so kind and loving towards Ludwig (Germany)? He'll need a manual for this!
Once Italy had gone home, Germany left his house and walked down the streets of Berlin and stopped at a local bookshop, he peered into the window and saw a book named 'How To Communicate With Your Partner.' He opened the door to the shop and took a copy of the book off the shelf and walked over to the man behind the counter. He paid for the manual. The shop keeper said to himself, "This book doesn't sell well in Italy but it sells really good in Germany."
After he paid for the manual he walked home and saw Roderich (Austria) sat on the couch drinking coffee.
"Guten tag Austria." Germany muttered to the Austrian.
"Hallo Germany, and my day wasn't that good. Hungary is still convinced that she is a man, what the hell did your brother say to her when they were kids?" Austria asked.
"No clue Austria, if you can remember; I have no memories of my child hood even though I have the usual flash backs. Sometimes I see a little girl with aubern hair, green maids dress and a push broom." Germany explained.
That caused Austria to drop his cup in shock.
"Oh dear, are you The Holy Roman Empire?" Austria asked whilst standing up and placing his hands on Germany's shoulder, staring into his eyes.
"I-I don't know. Should I go ask Prussia?" Germany stumbled over his word.
"Yeah, he'll probably know better since he is your older brother and all." Austria said.
Germany nodded and walked out of his house.
Meanwhile at Italy and Romano's house.
"Fratello, why don't you like Germania?" Italy asked his older brother.
Romano turned around and looked at Italy and sighed, he sat beside his brother and said with a sad smile, "It's not that I dislike him, it's just that he reminds me of a guy that once hurt you...emotionally."
Italy thought for a moment and sighed, a sad smile appeared on his face. "Holy Rome..."
"Fratellino? Oh no, don't cry. Shh it's okay! H emay have evolved into a bigger nation. Shh he's okay, I'm sure of it!" Romano said whilst trying to comfort the younger nation.
Italy sobbed into the older italians shoulder, "Why does it still hurt, the fall of the Holy Roman Empire was centuries ago. Why does it still hurt Fratello? Please tell me!" Italy begged.
He's broken, I'll kill that idiota for hurting and braking mio fratellino! Romano thought to himself.
"I-I don't know. Maybe it's because you were only a bambino at the time." Romano told Italy.
"Veneziano, why don't we go to the flower feilds and make flower jewellry, I know you enjoy doing that." Romano offered with a smile.
Italy's head perked up and he nodded his head. "Si!!"
