Sorry for the lack of updates, but I was really busy with school, revision and exams. And again, I apologise!!
______________________________________________The pain was unbelievable. Heart wrenching. Excruciating. Right now I would take on James every day for the rest of eternity if it meant that this pain would end. It felt like I was burning from the inside out, and the sensation was something familiar, but I knew that Edward wasn't here to save me this time. I would either be killed by one of the massive wolves, or I would complete the transformation from human to vampire, along the way gaining extraordinary abilities. Speed would make me more like Edward. Newborn strength would make me more like Emmett. Vampiric beauty would make me more like Rosalie, but even then I would still be ugly in comparison. And, if I was granted with an extra ability, I would become more like Alice and Jasper.
After what felt like years of torcherous burning, the pain started to ease from my fingers and toes, and once my hands and feet were cooled, I began to make out voices.
"Do you think she can hear us?"
"Who cares? She's just a bloodsucking leech now anyway."
"Paul..." That voice was a warning.
Next came a gentle voice that was much closer to me, right next to my ear.
"Bella? Bella, it's me, Jacob."
Jacob was here? After weeks of ignoring me he was here speaking comforting words to me, calming me down. Yet still I felt a strange sense of comfort that he was here, that he was here watching over me.
As the pain of the transformation slowly left my arms and legs, the fire in my heart grew hotter and hotter, until it was the only thing ablaze any more. I listened intently as my heart beat once, twice more and then came to an abrupt stop.
I knew then that my life as a human was over.
