Zayn's POV:

"So erm, how old are you?" I asked Skylar as we walked around town on the sidewalk. The sky was black, the moonlight gusting down. The air was cold, our breath could be seen in a cloudy frost.  The road was empty, cars just parked along the sidewalk. It was quite.... cold.

"18." She mumbled as we continued to walk. I sighed, putting my freezing hands in my old black hoody pockets. "How old are you?" I cleared my throat and bit my lower lip. Should I tell her? Will my age scare her off more than I possibly already am? I can't loose her. She's seriously my only friend unless you count my fellow drug dealers as friends. I can't lie though, I can't take that chance of her leaving.

"21." I answered. She took in a deep breath between gritted teeth. I knew it would bug her, but I also knew I had to tell her. Its not like its that big of a age difference anyway, and were both adults.

As we walked, I noticed a white bench which was sitting in grass next to the light grey cement sidewalk. I headed over to it, sitting down on the end. Skylar stood in front of me, the moonlight giving me just enough light to see her her beautiful light blonde hair falling down her shoulders in light, soft waves. Her crystal blue eyes twinkled down at me, yet her face was blank and frail.

"Come on love," I said, patting the empty part of the bench. "Sit down." She hesitated for a moment, but seconds later she was sitting next to me awkwardly.

She put her head down, her platinum waves slightly covering her beautiful blue eyes, and her arms crossed over her chest. Skylar's fingers rubbed up and down her arms, chills lightly glazed her soft, pale skin.

I slid my jacket off of my body, gently letting it caress her body. She looked up at me with bewilderment in her eyes, sitting up.

"No." Skylar whispered. She began to pull the jacket off of her small body, but I stopped her.

"You're cold," I laughed lightly, putting the jacket back on her. "If someone offers you their jacket, you should take it."

I leaned in playfully, bumping her with my shoulder. The corners of her mouth curled into a small grin, and she turned her face so that it was hidden by her hair.

"You don't have to be shy, Skylar." I mumbled, sitting back and taking in the scenery. "I'm not going to bite."

"I know." She turned to face me, her brows barely scrunched. Her crystal blue eyes studied my face, and she slightly bit her lip as she did.

"What?" I smiled, sitting up straighter to face her.

"I can't figure you out." Skylar looked away, and turned her gaze toward her fingers.

"What's there to figure out?" I chuckled, arching my back to stretch it out.

"You said that you're not like you're appearance.." She brushed her waves back from her eyes. "So if you're sick of people only seeing you by your appearance, why not just change how you look?"

"It's difficult." I mumbled, sliding my hand into my pocket, feeling around for my lighter.

"How so?" She watched me as I pulled out a perfectly clean cigarette, stick it into my mouth, and put the lighter up at the tip, watching the smoke circle around in heavy, grey curls.

"I don't want to talk about it."
