The Arrival

I came to New Marais with my family in hopes of starting a new life safe from people like Bertrand, who the hero of this city, Cole McGrath, had stopped about a year ago. Now the power seems to have gone to his head, and he's starting to abuse his popularity in this city.
My family and I were eating at some fancy restaurant for my birthday when I saw him....Cole McGrath.....I wanted to meet him, but never thought what happened next possible....he came into the restaurant with Agent Kuo, only she wasn't agent Kuo, well, not exactly, her hands were surrounded by a dry ice type fog. It seemed they were on a date, so I didn't bother them.
Our waiter came with our food. I had a plate of shrimp scampy, with breadsticks, my parents shared spaghetti, you know, lady and the tramp style. It was great. We finished and went home.
Once we arrived, we saw our house completely dark, in a neighborhood that was also completely dark. When we entered, the whole neighborhood was in our house, welcoming us to the nieghborhood. We partied all night, until about one. To my surprise, Cole dropped on the house, and came in, then greeted us, welcoming us into the city.
When everyone left, my family and I went to sleep. I woke up about two hours later, to a noise in the backyard. I went out and saw two humanoid creatures, about thirty feet from the house. I went into my room and got a baseball bat, and ran out and hit one in the face. The other took its giant "arm" and hit me to the back wall with a loud smacking noise. I looked up and there it was....standing over top of me, looking down on me, grinning almost. It took its arm and stabbed at me with the tip of its claw. As I rolled out from under it, the other was standing with the first. It was almost as if I was what they were looking for. Terrified, I stood, ran towards them, screaming, no weapon, as fast I could. I ran up to one, and punched it as hard as I could in the face. I knocked it on its back, rolling. This was where I first discovered my powers. I looked at them, infuriated, and tried to see if I could focus my power into my hand. I fired a bolt of lightning into their bodies. They stopped to the floor. Terrified, I wrote my family a letter:
Mom, Dad I'm sorry to tell you this but I need to stay away from town as far as possible. I can't tell you how hard it is to say this. I discovered I have powers, and I need to learn to control it before I can come back. I'll find a way to control it soon. I love you, until I can see you again...goodbye....I'm so sorry.
