Phil's POV
The pavement that was under my feet as I walked seemed to have a bounce to it as I almost skipped my way to school. The weather was beautiful as always, even on cloudy days, and I absolutely loved the way the wind hit my face as if it was caressing it in a gentle way like I was something fragile. The sun was beaming down at me happily as I smiled right back at it. I could tell that the day was going to be another beautiful and eventful day just by the smell of the air and the sound of many people talking as I walked into the school gates. The first person who greeted me was PJ who was wearing a beautiful t-shirt that had a unicorn in space, his shoes also matched the theme of the shirt and was galaxy colored, I'm not sure if that could be said to be a color, though...maybe you can!
"Good morning Phil! How's your morning been so far?" PJ asks me as he gives me a hug. We have done this many times with each other and other different people so the students around us don't think so much about it anymore.
"My morning has just been fantastic so far and I have a feeling that it'll be like that for the rest of the day. Your's?" I responded as we started to walk into the actual school building. As we walked I would wave and say "Hello" to other students as they came up to me and greeted me.
"It's also been wonderful apart from the fact that I forgot my gym clothes today!! I can't believe that I forgot to bring them, and it's for one of my favorite classes too!" PJ ranted as we continued to walk to our lockers.
"I still can't believe that you actually like gym, it gets me so sweaty and sticky and tired after just a few minutes. It's honestly one of the worst things for me since I hate exercise," I groaned out. I honestly did not like gym one bit. Once when I was ten my parents forced me to join a running club and it was the absolute worst. I tripped a total of eight times the whole hour that it took. I was covered in bruises and cuts once I came back home and my parents were worried sick. Ever since then the only exercise I've done was walking to the places I needed to.
"It's fun Phil, you should try playing a sport to see just how fun it is," He said in a happy voice. PJ always got happy when he talked about sports or his hobbies, he just loved it with all of his heart. We continued with our usual chatter and banter as we got our things out of our lockers. It took a little bit longer for me to get my things since my locker is a disaster. I'm not really a tidy person. Once the five-minute bell rang we separated to go to our classes. I had AP Physics on the second floor first thing in the morning while PJ had English on the third floor. I didn't really get the chance to miss him since two other girls, who's names I don't remember, attached themselves to my arms and walked with me to my class. Once I walked into the room the teacher greeted me with a huge smile before everyone else did the same. It's pretty normal for people to do this to me even though it might be weird for everyone else. It happens to me everyday and in every class I have. Right after the bell rang the teacher made an announcement to everyone.
"I have an announcement to make everyone! There is going to be a new student joining us today. I'm not sure when he will present himself, but he's going to be here today. Also, since the only seat available is next to Phil, he will be sitting next to you," the teacher motioned towards my direction as she said this. "I'm 100% sure I don't need to say this to you but please treat him nicely, alongside with everyone else." I smiled at the teacher so that she knew that I understood, I was honestly excited to meet the new student, I wonder what type of person they are. What if they are my true love, haha I'm kidding that won't happen in a thousand years. But seriously, I want to know what kind of person they are and I want to know now! So after she made that announcement, the teacher began today's lesson about waves and what causes them. I was instantly consumed by the interest that I had in this subject. I probably don't have to point out, but I just loved Physics, it is one of the most interesting things that I've learned about in my whole life. After, who knows how long, passed the noise of the door opening sounded and I turned my attention to it. Standing there in the doorway was the most beautiful person that I have ever laid eyes on. He was wearing skinny jeans that showed off his legs perfectly, he had on a completely black shirt which seemed a bit depressing, and his shoes were also black. His hair was the same style as mine apart from the fact that his fringe was facing the other way and his hair was brown while mine was black. His skin seemed to be white, pale but not as much as mine is. My skin is white as snow, well not that much but you get the picture. The boy didn't seem a bit nervous, he just seemed bored and uninterested. He walked to the front of the room where the teacher was after standing in the doorway for about a minute.
"Oh! Welcome to my class Daniel!" the teacher cheerfully said once the kid approached her.
"It's Dan, not Daniel," Dan said in a rather harsh tone which left me thinking, even more, what kind of person he is.
"My apologies Dan, would you please introduce yourself to the class before they ask you questions about yourself?" The teacher kindly asked him after apologizing for her mistake. Dan faced the classroom with the same expression that he was wearing since the second he stepped into the classroom.
"My name is Dan Howell, I like the color black and I like to read," he said in a bored tone. Everyone seemed a little weird since he didn't have an upbeat attitude like everyone else did. There were a few people who asked questions which he responded to with one-word answers or with a sentence.
"Where did you move from?"
"London."
"Do you have any pets?"
"No."
"Do you do any sports?"
"Volleyball."
"Does that mean you're going to join the Volleyball team?"
"No."
"Are you in a relationship right now?"
"There is no reason that you need to know that." And with that the questioning ended since the teacher thought that it was getting a little inappropriate.
"So you're going to be sitting next to Phil for the rest of the year. Phil, may you raise your hand so that Dan knows who you are?" The teacher asked after she stopped the Q&A. I raised my hand as I was asked to and waited for Dan to join my one person group. I haven't really had a permanent group for the start of the school year since I was the only person who sat at my table. Whenever we had to do group projects I just went to different groups so that I worked with everyone at least once. Now I didn't have to do that anymore and I could have my own group to work with even if it was just made up of two people. Dan walked to my table and sat in front of me and took his things out for the class as the teacher continued on with the lesson. I took this chance to try to talk to him.
"Hi Dan, my name is Phillip Lester but you can call me Phil. I also like to read so I hope we can be friends," I introduced myself cheerfully as I stuck my hand out so that we could shake hands. Dan just looked at it as if it was some weird alien part or a hoof instead of a normal human hand. What he said next surprised me.
"Don't talk to me, Phil."
