"luke, i have stuff to do today."

"well then you can do that stuff. the only difference is me being there with you. can you just do this one thing for me, please?"

"fine," i sigh, "just don't wake up my parents. you know how they get when it comes to sleep."

"you're a life saver, michael."

i drag my feet towards my locker and grab my bag. luke won't be coming over until its dark, so i might as well start my homework as soon as i get home so it's out of the way.

luke sneaks through my bedroom window to my rooftop. i don't even notice he's there until he speaks.

"why do you like the stars so much?" he curiously asks.

"because they have stories, just like us. their bright light shines through the darkness. that's pretty metaphorical, right? i mean, they're too beautiful to just be a big ball of gas. there has to be something else to them; something more."

we sit in silence, mesmerized by the little dots in the sky. that is, until luke says yet another thing.

"it's 11:11, make a wish."

i look at the brightest star, and make a wish.

"i hope you come true," i whisper to myself, faint enough that even luke wouldn't be able to hear it.

i clumsily stomp down the stairs while rubbing my eyes to get some breakfast. i'm not shocked when i see luke stuffing his face with fruit loops. he practically lives on that stuff. the only reason i buy it is for luke when he's over, which is usually 5/7 days a week.

"and the galaxy boy walks!" luke exclaims when he sees me. i dont know whether he's referring to my hair or because i'm so interested in the universe. i roll my eyes and continue my quest to the kitchen.

i begin eating my leftover pizza once i sit down next to luke, who is scrolling through tv channels.

"oh. my. god." luke monotones. i look up at the screen and gasp.

"put it on and turn it up, dumbass! hurry!" i yell.

we both grab blankets and get comfortable just as the greatest movie of all time starts; The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl.

this is going to be a long day.
