*AN- this part is a bit shorter than usual. Attached is the penthouse.
"This ones too small."
"This room doesn't get enough natural light."
"I don't like the color of the walls."
"This room isn't big enough for our bed is it baby?" he turned to me. Alexander and I have spent the whole day visiting apartments and penthouses. And guess what he is a bloody house perfectionist. He want the perfect amount of space, not too much, not too little; perfect amount of natural light; he wants massive windows looking over the city; a big extravagant staircase.
He was constantly telling the real estate agent to step it up. This was our first couple outing and I just wanted to rip my eyeballs out of their sockets.
"Would you mind if we went more East?" The estate agent asked.
"No East is perfect" I say stepping in before Alexander did.
"Darling, I think we should discuss this."
"What is there to discuss? We're going east, my Honeybun." I say in my fakest voice, raising my eyebrows daring him to challenge me. He didn't.
We get in a car and go up the street and stop at a gorgeous building with a door man at the bottom. I say thank you and we head to the elevator. "Would you mind if we went up and had a look on our own first?" Alexander asked the estate agent. He just nodded and took a seat in the foyer while we went up in the elevator. "So Tamera." My name rolled off his lips.
I look over at him leaning against the raining of the mirrored elevator, "Alexander."
He looks a bit surprised, "Call me Alex, I hate the name Alexander, only my dad calls me that." I just nodded, I knew eventually we were going to have to be civil, but I am tired after all of our aimless house hunting and I can't be bothered to make the effort now.
The elevator door opens and we are greeted with a massive open plan, kitchen, living room and dining room. There are massive windows along two of the walls giving us a view over the city. There is also a massive white curving staircase. I look over at Alex who hasn't yet made any complaints. I just stand there in awe. Alex makes his way up the stairs and I trail behind looking over the city. This place is truly amazing. Upstairs there are three bedrooms and bathrooms all around the same size. "I like this one." I say to Alex who has been unusually quiet.
"Me two." That is the first thing we have agreed on.
We go back down to meet the estate agent, who is thrilled we finally liked one. Alex and the estate agent start working on some numbers, while I sit in the foyer playing candy crush. When they finally finish I get a taxi home and prepare myself for what I am going to say to my mother.
I find her in the study again, "Hey mum, I need to tell you something."
She turns around, she looks worse than she did when I left. "What is it sweetie?"
I smile, even though she is in her personal hell, she still makes time to call me sweetie and listen to me. "I got that job I was telling you about."
"Oh that's wonderful darling, when do you start?" I wish I could just tell her the truth that I am pretending to be engaged to some rich, arrogant, playboy to save us.
"Immediately. There's something else I need to talk to you about." She nods to show me I have her full attention, "I will have to move out, mum. I will come back and visit every weekend and call you every day. Mum I will make enough money to pay off our debt and we will be ok. I promise mum."
Her face dropped but she tried to cover it by putting on a smile. She pulls me into her, and holds me tight. Her smell surrounds me and I feel at home and relaxed like there is nothing to worry about. I won't have to spend the next two years of my life pretending I am in love with my dick of a fiancé. I won't have to leave my mother at home when she needs me most. I don't have to worry about anything, because my mummy's got me. "Promise."
"What?"
"Promise you will call me and you will come back to see me. Promise me."
"I promise mum."
I promise.
